These photos were taken at the Adirondack Interpretative Center which is part of the State University of New York College of Environmental Forestry (ESF) in the Adirondack Mountains of northern New York State. It is located in Newcomb, NY. They have a wonderful lodge with 3.6 miles of trails on it’s 236 acre property. It sits on the shoreline of Rich Lake and Rich Lake outlet. Trailheads are located at the building. This center is part of ESF’s Huntington Wildlife Forest, a 15,000 acre filed station, called the Adirondack Ecological Center. Sycamore Hills Gardens in Marcellus, NY is a nearly 40 acre private garden open to the public several weekends a season for Central New York not for profit fundraisers. I've posted a few photos to give you a TINY sense of what you can see at the Gardens. The large tree by the private home is ... surprise ... a Sycamore Tree! It was growing before the American Revolution started in 1776. This grouping of photos was taken at the Stone Quarry Hill Art Park in Cazenovia, NY. The park has 104 acres, 4 miles of trails, 100+ outdoor artworks and is open dawn to dusk 365 days a year. Part of the Wild Walk at the Wild Center in Tupper Lake, NY. The Wild Center is a spectacular indoor / outdoor nature center. The Wild Walk is a bridge-like walk along the treetops with many interesting stops along the path. There are nature trails through the woods leading down to a meandering river. Funnel Weaver Spider, photo taken in Liverpool, NY. The funnel weaver spider lives in shrubs and dense plants and spins a web leading into a funnel shape hiding place in the shrub. The web is complex but not sticky. When an insect lands the spider quickly attacks it and drags it into the funnel where it is eaten.
