I’m lately obsessed with this huge beast, the Rachmaninoff etude-tableaux op.39 no. 5 in e flat minor. In this interpretation Lugansky play it with clarity in the voices and enough passion. Still searching for the perfect interpretation but this is very good i think. 

The etude-tableux were composed by Rachmaninoff in 1916-17 inspired in paintings (tableux). He never revealed which were the painitings which inspired each composition.

Hypnotic interpretation by Sviatoslav Richter. 

Here you can watch the first movement of Schubert’s piano sonata D.894 in G major interpreted by Richter in a slower tempo than usual but it feels very intimate, almost religious. My favourite.

After assisting at a Richter’s concert in Moscow where he played a Schubert sonata Glenn Glould said:

"Heretical though it may be, I'm > not really addicted to most of Schubert's music. I find myself > usually unable to come to terms with the repetitive structures > involved." > > What then happened at the Moscow Conservatory? Gould says that for > the next hour he was in a state that he can obly compare to a > "hypnotic trance". For me the best interpretation that i found of the Impromptu no. 3 d899 in G flat major of Schubert. Horowitz plays it divine.

Sokolov masters this piece. Intermezzo No. 2 in B flat minor Op. 117 by Brahms.

It’s a romantic piece with a beautiful start that gets more complicated in its developement.

Scriabin Etude op 2. no. 1 by Horowitz.

This fragile and delicate study has something desperate, but very beautiful.

Scriabin compose it when he was 15 years old.

Horowitz masters it.

Ravel: jeux d’eau (Water games) by Martha Argerich.

This beauty is an impressionist icon of piano music. Also a nightmare to perform that Argerich plays supernaturally.

Rachmaninoff: Prelude op.3 no. 2 by Emil Gilels.

Rach composed this masterpiece in 1892, he was 19 years old.

It became very popular, known as The Prelude. 

He wrote 24 preludes in total. But this was the first one.

It reminds me a tough argument, a fight between two.
