So, Music Box (my FNaF comic series) will be changing its upload schedule!
Strap in, cuz there's a LOT to talk about.
Since its launch, Music Box has always worked on a 2 page per week upload schedule. It's something I've always taken a lot of pride in being able to keep up. But there's no point to taking pride in making myself miserable.
And honestly, that's been starting to happen.
My weekly deadline has changed from a well oiled machine to a noose around my neck, something I dread rather than what motivates me. And that's not good, we can agree on this, yes?
So, Music Box will be moving to a 1 page per week schedule!
Me from two years ago would be absolutely devastated at this news. And while I certainly shed quite the tears making this choice, I'd like to think I'm handling it a lot better than her. Now THAT'S character development!
This gives me the freedom to make Music Box without feeling my own Shadow Bonnie breathing down my shoulder and telling me I'm not being productive enough. Because fun fact, your art gets a LOT worse when that happens!
It also gives me more time to, y'know, do other things! I have a LOT going on in my life right now. I'm an upperclassman at art college, I have a second comic series I'm starting, I want to get back into storyboarding and making adoptables, etc.
So although it might seem like I'm doing less, this change will actually help me do more of what I want to! Music Box included :D
This does mean that Music Box will take a lot LONGER to fully tell, which is what I've been so scared about. But it's honestly for the best. I have absolutely NO intention of abandoning Music Box, and if this is the option that lets me see it through to the end better, than I'll gladly take it.
Content creation is HARD, deceptively so. With FNaF being such a large fandom, making Music Box has felt like screaming into an abyss so wide that nobody can hear me. It's hard to keep going when you feel you're failing, and I can't keep over-investing so much of myself into appeasing an algorithm that, frankly, never seems to give back >:(
And that's not even true, of course–there's so many of you guys that have heard me, have seen this story and appreciated it. And that means so incredibly much to me, you really can't know!! I treasure every comment, every interaction, every nice person I get to have a conversation with because of this job. It means the world to me, and as long as you guys out there enjoy what I do, I'll keep on doing it for the both of us 🥹
My goal is to finish Volume 1 by the end of 2026, which I think is absolutely achievable! All we have left is the rest of chapters 10, 11, and a shorter epilogue. (And no, Volume 1 is not the only volume of the story!)
So, that's the update! 1 page per week, less stressin' and more livin', Volume 1 done by the end of the year. Thanks for being patient!
