My name is Tess, I’m in high school, and I’m a lesbian trans girl that uses she/her.

I came over from pinterest for the funny and have decided to stay awhile because this website is fun

i like women, listening to music, baseball, fashion and also history. I’m trying to get into hockey and urban planning but those are WIPs. I’ll also sometimes get up to political chicanery.

What’s more I wrote like one fic on Wattpad as EveryDamnPigeon. Read it if you like shit, amateurish and rushed writing coupled with the bare minimum in terms of historical accuracy.

You know it really helps, when arguing, to address an argument in full. Not just to hard-focus on one bit. Also, denial of napalm’s use on civilians is very much a thing. Or at least convenient avoidance of the topic. So yeah idk what to tell you man. Also, denying that there was a famine is not a widespread Marxist-Leninist, let alone Marxist viewpoint. That is a well-documented phenomenon. What encounters more frequent opposition is the idea that it was a genocide against the Ukrainian people specifically, which not only downplays the suffering of non-Ukrainians during the event, but also gives Stalin’s govt too much credit. They were just genuinely incompetent enough to start a famine due to unreachable quotas and mismanagement of resources. Now, that being said, this was also the last widespread famine in Soviet history, 10 years into the country’s existence, which seems like a decent track record by all means

Tbh I haven’t seen even hardcore capitalists argue that the CIA never supported military dictatorships or assassinated political and civil rights leaders, but sure, if that’s happening that’s bad. Personally what I have seen is someone denying the existence of a famine *entirely* claiming we can’t know for sure it happened because of „CIA propaganda“. (I know it being a targeted genocide is disputed though I also think the argument „well other groups were affected too“ is a poor argument against it being a genocide, but whatever. I also am not sure what you mean with it being the last major famine considering the post WW2 famine which was mostly because of the war but also considered mismanaged by the government?) I have seen leftists claim the Holocaust wasn’t a targeted genocide against Jews and was actually a genocide against communists and Polish people, and saying otherwise means you support Israel and are denying other victims of the Holocaust, that same video also had someone claim Anne Frank‘s diary was straight up not real. 

I never said being capitalist makes you a better historian than being a Marxist, and I never denied anything you brought up. I just disagree with this poster claiming being Marxist is inherently connected to some superior historical knowledge.

The post WW2 famine was not on par with the Holodomor and is generally thought to have been caused by factors beyond the Soviet government’s control (the post WW2 baby boom caused by demobilization which was an international phenomenon, the destruction during WW2 and the drought of 1946 among others). Although the USSR could’ve more adequately managed the whole affair, it wasn’t actively to blame for the famine.

The CIA propaganda issue is due to the fact that history books in the West tend to consistently underplay communist achievements and overplay shortcomings as a little leftover from the Red Scares. I’m sure you know the 100 million dead figure, which counts Axis soldiers, Nazis and Soviet war casualties as “victims of communism”. Whilst using such an excuse to deny genocides and mass executions as a whole is unjustifiable, prior context does serve to explain such a mentality.

Holocaust denial regardless of which side of the political spectrum it originates from is fucked up and isn’t fundamental leftist belief so I’ll just ignore that entirely.

As for the genocide I would like to poke the sign:

The Holodomor not affecting just one group and being primarily unintentional excludes it from being a genocide (yes i know wikipedia isn’t the best source of all time but its definition seems fairly unbiased).

Also, your first reblog basically calls Marxist historians genocide deniers, so I would argue that you are in fact arguing capitalists make for better historians. which they do when the most commonly taught history is biased and taught as liberal big-man history. Js saying

If you really want to read the Harry Potter books for nostalgia and you own copies/can get them from the library, fine. I don't like it, but fine.

If you want to rewatch the movies and you own DVDs of them or can borrow them from the media section of your library or a friend, I don't like it, but again, fine.

I, and most people with basic decency, draw the line at the Harry Potter show. JK Rowling has said she's going to use the money that show makes to fund anti trans bills and make trans people's lives hell.

You cannot watch the show ethically. You cannot go to the stupid Harry Potter theme park thing ethically. You cannot buy new Harry Potter books, movies, and merch ethically. You cannot make a social media account dedicated to Harry Potter content ethically.

Because whether you realize it or not, when you watch that show or buy those books new, you are telling the world you do not give a singular damn about trans people. You are saying that you want trans people to suffer for the sake of your goddamn nostalgia. You know on some level what you are doing with your money, so don't you dare say this isn't what you want when you support that franchise.

You have a choice. A shitty book series made by a bigot or the literal lives of millions of people. And it says a lot about some of you based on what you pick.
