OKAY YOU KNOW WHAT LISTEN.
The global market model bullshit in making games one fucking universal priceĀ is terrible (blessedĀ āHi-Fi RUSHā being 30 buckos, like back in the day when Katamari was only 30 bucks when new).Ā BUT....
remember when games cost MORE money back in the day?Ā āPerfect Darkā and others were $80 (some older games coming out at an even higher price).Ā Even if you take into account how shit has gone up in price due to inflation, the only folks stuck at paying +100 munny for games are like, australians and shit.Ā Not justifying, but reminding here.
āBreath of the Wildā was damn near a launch title for the Switch.Ā It was the transition game, bridging the WiiU and Switch.Ā This game is like 6 or 7 years old now.Ā Ā āBout 3 years after the game came out, talk of a sequel was in the works, and they were likeĀ āhey weāre gonna basically use the same engine/map and shit from the first game, so we can improve the game down more and make it even betterā.Ā And past few years theyāve pushed and pushed and pushed it, sayingĀ āfuck look we donāt wanna rush this.Ā We want to make sure this is GOOD.ā.Ā Itās been a while since Nintendo had one of their one big name things get worked on and they paused giving a release date or even show off something about a game like this.Ā This think could have been being worked on for the past 4 years or more for all we know.
This is one of those times where Iām excited for a game and have high expectations and high hopes for.Ā And while the price for the game is bullshit, itās probably something I think might be legit worth it.Ā This aināt like GameFreak or Squeenix or whatever pumping out a stinker a few times then relying on some other party to put out a banger to try and fix the release rep.Ā This is first-brand Nintendo here.
Myst was between 80 - 120 dollars when it came out and that was 90s money... So probably the equivalent to 110 - 160 today. Fact is base game prices haven't changed in about 20 years but the economy has.
Paying $70 for games right now is about the equivalent of paying around $35 in the mid 90's. Even if you want to use the argument of "well cartridge games were more expensive, Playstation games were cheaper because printing CD's had lower production costs." Even Playstation games around that time were around $45. So even with this price hike, video games are cheaper now than they have ever been.
