Know what my favorite part of this is? That one only has ties on a small part of their body whereas the other is tied all along one side up to the face, meaning one person is not quite as invested in the relationship as the other. Even better thought, the one with most ties is the one with the scissors. Im so glad they’ve built up the courage to leave even if it means cutting out a larger part out of their life than the other.

I grew up as a “gifted” kid and exceeded in every subject. Now, when I’m stuck on something, I have no idea how to study because I never learned when I was younger. I never developed study habits either and this screwed me up so much in high school and college.

I worked at the airport for a year & when I would work the international concourse people would say things like this to me and they were constantly apologizing for their broken English. Like no honey, I don’t care about any of that & I’m sorry you even feel the need to tell me that.

i have to speak of two instances at my place of employment.

1. a group of Hispanic guys came up to the counter to order, but only one guy could speak a small amount of English. at one point, my coworker couldn’t understand and this guy was trying to think of a way to help her. finally, he said, “4… um… fr… 4…” “papas fritas. he wants 4 orders of fries.” the look of relief on his face was heartbreaking.

2. an Asian man was placing an order and his English was broken and he started apologizing and i said, “no… no, sir. you’re doing great. English is really hard and some of us still can’t speak it that well. so, congratulations.” he and i had a 5 minute talk about where he’s from and all that.

don’t dare scoff at someone else because they are learning another language to survive.

Where I live, there are a lot of apathetic people, people who don’t care at all about what they do or how they do it. They let the world wash over them and barely notice anyone else is even there. Leslie Knope is not one of these people. She cares about everything and everyone in our town. I don’t know how she does it. People come to her with the pettiest, stupidest problems, and she cares - like really, actually cares - what happens to them. And if you’re lucky enough to be her friend, your life gets better every day. She spends every waking moment thinking of new ways to make her friends happy. There is something wonderful about seeing someone who has found her true purpose on earth. For some people, I guess that’s being an astronaut or a hotdog eating champion. For Leslie, her true purpose on earth, her true meaning, is making people’s lives better. That’s what I love about her, and that’s why she deserves this award. Sincerely, Satan.

I notice everything. And by everything, I literally mean everything. I notice when someone stops hitting me up like they used to. I notice when the way someone talks to me starts changing. I notice the little things that people do, and the little things they used to do. I notice when things change, and when it’s no longer the same. I notice every single little detail. I just don’t say anything.

It’s so important to acknowledge your weaknesses and imperfections. It may seem hard at first, but once you begin to recognize and come to peace with your weaknesses, you actually have an honest place to start improving. We shouldn’t strive for perfection because it doesn’t exist. When we accept others for who they are and love ourselves unconditionally (flaws and all), we have an opportunity to be open, to be courageous, and to learn.
