I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with relating to characters, “they’re literally me” etc but if that’s the only way you engage with stories you’re kinda missing the whole point of Characters being vehicles through which we can see perspectives outside of our own. and also you’re going to get upset when the Character acts in a way that is not Personally Relatable to You

I've seen people say Jax being confirmed trans was abrupt (as if people haven't BEEN theorizing it and there weren't countless hints) and it honestly pisses me off. If the reason Jax hated herself had just been that she thought she killed her mother and she had a bad home life people would have been ALL over it. Nothing would have felt abrupt there, it all makes perfect sense!! He's so complicated and tragic!! But as soon as the character is confirmed to be trans suddenly people think it came out of nowhere and was bad writing?? Did she have to turn to the camera and say, "I wish I was a woman" for it to have been clear?? Maybe a couple hidden trans flags in her GIRLY room?? Why is it suddenly so hard to believe?? People have mostly been super cool about Jax being trans but I have seen some people say some truly stupid shit 😭😭
