Sayonara-

My life has changed quite a lot since I started this blog about a year and a half ago. Banana Fish has been a huge part of my life going through college and it’s story and characters will always have a place in my heart. Through this show, I have made amazing friends and I am so grateful that we have been given the opportunity to come together as a community and talk about the things we love.

That being said though, I know I haven’t been very active in the fandom for the best part of this year and, truthfully, I don’t think I will be able to be active in the future. I am facing big changes in life and I think it’s time to bring this blog to a close. I am going to leave the blog up so anyone can have a peek through, and I will still be messaging anyone who messages me on here. ☺️

Thank you so much to everyone who has made this fandom an amazing place for me and everyone else!

the most unrealistic part about bf is how eiji pole-vaulted once and never again. like surely that had to be useful elsewhere right??? is there not another situation where he could’ve done that?? this is not a poorly-written argument just so i could see eiji do more pole-vaulting, definitely not, i just think yeeting yourself over a wall can be useful in other moments, also to double down on the fact he’s actually really strong!!

Honestly Yoshidia’s writing of Eiji as an althlete never seemed very thoughtful to me. Like in the Shorter Wong trying to kill him situation. Wouldn’t Eiji be so pumped on adrenaline he’d fight back? High stress situations release lots of testostone especially in althletes.

Like i get Eiji being manhandled onto Dino’s bed because Yut Lung had him pretty drugged up before hand. (Come to think of it maybe Eiji hates Yut Lung because the constant roofying that’s got to make a big athletic guy like him feel pretty helpless).

Not to mention how Eiji tied up Yut Lung’s guys and made at least six solid exscape attempts to the point where. Yut basically slipped him sleeping herbs to get a break for a while. (Isn’t it sad the only person who finds Eiji impressive rather then just cute utterly hates his guts?)

Though Yut Lung got the same treatment the ability to sneak up on anyone including Ash and he never uses it again.

Even when hunting Ash its like send you men at him and stick your little needle in his neck when he’s distracted Yue, come on! He doesn’t weigh that much more then you. Give him a big enough dose and he ‘ll be too sluggish to get his hands around your neck.

Since we’ve seen that you move fast enough to dodge bullets with only a shoulder graze. You slipped out of Shorter Wong’s grip like butter when he wasn’t pinning you down. Also someone wrote a Shorter x Yut Lung fic and had Yut Lung make a cure to Banana Fish and i was like, frigging heck. He actually did have the means and knowedge to do that in cannon!

But that’s what happens when you decide your protagonist has to be super special the other characters never get to use their abilities.

both ash and eiji were underestimated in canon, but i think the main difference between them is that ash knew he had talent, knew he was being underestimated, and therefore knew how to prove them wrong. eiji also believed he was unassuming and basic, probably not helped by his pole-vaulting ordeal, which is probably why he wasn’t able to do as much as he theoretically could’ve.

but you’re right, eiji wasn’t portrayed as mentioned above, he was shown as almost reliant on ash, sort of as a damsel in distress. sure, he was in an unfamiliar environment with danger at literally every corner, but pole-vaulting gives you muscles! even if you’ve never fought, you can really pack a punch if someone is getting close.

and sometimes yut-lung doesn’t think critically, like at all. part of me wants to say it’s because he was simply so angry that he let his emotions get the better of him, paralleling ash who also did, but with his feelings over eiji. but the other part of me wants to say he’s just been pushed aside a lil. like imagine if ash had been drugged and forced to confront yut-lung? that would’ve been interesting, i think. and it’d also show that yut-lung is capable of more than ordering lackeys around.

2. What’s the last book you read? Uuuh I guess manga doesn’t count? Or does it? If yeah then BNHA. If not then Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda like 2 years ago. I don’t really read books anymore..

3. What’s your dream house like? It’s just a bigger apartment for me, my partner and out future cats. It needs to have enough space for our cosplays, other than that just the most essential things.

4. What do you do for a hobby? When I have motivation: cosplay, drawing, playing games on my phone

5. What is your favourite show/film? Hhhhh can’t choose one. Favorite animes are YOI, BF and BNHA. NBC Hannibal is also a huge fav of mine. Favorite movie is Forrest Gump!

6. What colour socks have you got on? Black. Always black. All my clothes are black. Started my emo/punk phase a bit late and I’m sticking to it

7. What’s your favourite food? It’s probably breaded cheese, taking how often I eat that. But honestly idk I like so many things… If savory it definitely needs cheese though, if sweet then stawberries (or chocolate)

1. What’s your favourite colour?

I like purple and any pastel colours!

2. When do you usually go to bed?

Well... I had a better sleep routine before lockdown. Before I would normally go to bed around 10pm when I had to get up for college at 5am. However, now that I’m at home, I’ve been going to bed at about 1-2am 🙈

3. Movie/anime or book/manga?

Movie/anime for me. I tend to watch shows and films while multitasking, whereas you can’t really do that when reading.

4. Is there a food you like that usually others hate?

Olives! I love olives so much! Apparently they’re the most hated food in my country from a survey, but I could eat them forever 😍

5. What would you buy first if you won the lottery?

Plane tickets for me and my dad to go to japan. He absolutely adores one of the rides at Disney Sea there and he listens to the song from the ride all the time.

6. What fictional character(s) did you have a crush on?

Umm I’m struggling a bit with this one because I don’t think I’ve ever had a specific crush on a character. I tend to watch shows and just think ‘ooh she’s cute’ 😂

7. Favourite season of the year?

Winter! I like the cold and the snow (I’m a toddler on the inside and I will build a snowman 😂)

8. Coffee or tea?

I like them both but I’ll lean slightly more towards tea (otherwise the queen will hunt me down for being a fake Brit)

9. Which countries have you been to?

I have been quite fortunate to travel a bit over the last couple of years because of my mum’s new job. I’ve been to Spain, France, Greece, Croatia, Iceland, the US and Japan.

10. If you could send a message to your past self, what would you tell them?

I’d tell myself to persevere through bad times and appreciate the time I can spend with my friends before lockdown.

Please just take a moment to think about how pure this is: A teenager from Japan goes to New York for the first time and is fascinated to see another teenager carry a gun in a dingy underground bar. This is probably the first time he’s seeing a real gun, so with the enthusiasm boys in that age have, he asks if he could hold it for a second. Just like that. FaceTiming my friends - it makes me really happy to be able to chat to them because lockdown is a bit stressful 😂

I think mine is maybe being a good sister. My little sister means the world to me so I wanna make sure she feels happy and can come to me if she has any questions or worries.

I keep seeing the anime title "banana fish" going around and I love that as a title. So I've decided to watch it this week. It sounds like this anime will be a lot of fun shenanigans because honestly what anime wouldn't be fun with a title like that?
