Tooth and Fang
So I mentioned this in a previous post, but my vampire story 'Tooth and Fang' is still going! It got a majour re-vamp, if you will, from story/lore/characters and even the name. The pervious name being 'Bloodrush' for those that remember breifly. I'll have asks open for those curious, as this is a worldbuilding project as well as a writing one, but for now here's a how it starts - a prologue if you will:
so:
the vampire (Astor Valentine) and the human (Evelund Constantine) live in the year 1822.
Evelund is the son of an old dying lord to a small-town village living in a dense forested mountain-range. He's next in line to oversee the village, as the title of Lord in this world basically means to run the whole town. Especially in such small towns such as these.
Evelund is very much the towns favourite too, not only because he is the son of the Lord, but also due to his charm. His father made sure to educate him well, knowing his wit would be infinitely more powerful in battle than any raw strength. And so, his father felt no need to shield him from harsh realities - letting his son observe and help when the cold winters hit their people all too often.
The land is hostile, cold and bitter, but not once did they think to give up their home. Not even a vampire could drive them out.
Located a few miles up those same mountains, was the Valentine Manor. The Valentines were a family of vampires who were the first of the modern generation of vampires to settle down, rather than endlessly migrate to where the food was.
The Valentines would visit the town every full moon to feast, but they showed restraint, killing those they needed to survive. and they never killed the weak and easy. Most times, they wouldn't even kill their victim, instead leaving enough blood to recover.
This dynamic was a first, and difficult to navigate. However, after a few decades the visits finally stopped. No one knew why, or how, but they hold their breath and pray the vampires never return.
No one even dared check the Manor to see if they were still alive, not even to loot them.
However, after a villager swears up and down he saw a vampire try and attack his farm, Evelund is forced to go and scout the manor. If a vampire has returned, he will make sure it is the last one to terrorise his people.
