Person: But Jurassic Park/Jurassic World isn't scientifically accurate!
Me: I'm not here for an education. I'm here to watch bad guys get eaten with a satisfying crunch.

I think seeing people in their 20Ā“s and 30Ā“s as āoldā is pretty unhealthy tbh.
This post was hijacked but my point remains, you donāt turn old the instant you stop being a teenager. Let people enjoy being young adults, stop making teenagers anxious that their life ends the minute they hit twenty, or adults feel like they canāt have fun anymore.
Blind Appreciation
I contort my body in the stone window sill, eager to gaze at the magnum opus through this gasping, gaping hole in the wall. Craning my neck in order to stare over my shoulder, I sigh as I take in the view. Expansive. My fenced front yard. The grooved county road. A castle dour silhouetted against the silver sky like a cutout. Foggy. But thereās no trace of petrichor in the air. With a chuckle, I reach for the bifocals pinned to my collar and slip them over my curious orbs. After all this time, the images are finally sharp.
Therapists are justā¦. Common sense filters
Me: yeah so I just donāt have the energy to get up and make myself a sandwich or wait for something to cook so I just. Donāt
Her: why donāt you just eat the sandwich components without putting them together
Me:
Her: you can just eat a handful of cheese and some sandwich meat. You donāt have to make a sandwich.
Me:
Me: what
Therapists finding loopholes for mental illness things is one of my favorite things about dealing with mental illness because it really helps me understand that just because a reaction is Common doesnāt mean itās Right. Does doing dishes stress you out a lot? Buy paper plates. Do your obsessive thoughts make you worry about leaving your curling iron on so you drive home from work to check? Just put the curling iron in your purse and bring it to work with you while we work on tackling where this worry comes from. Symptom management doesnāt have to look like drudgery.
i used to go days without showering because seeing my body was so upsetting that i would end up spiraling and then i realized i could simply turn the lights out. it took some getting used to but iāve been showering with the lights off for years and itās now one of my favorite parts of my day.
do whatever you want nothing is real and thereās no need to inflict unnecessary suffering on yourself just to try to seem ānormalā
I love this post
Hmmm
These kinds of loopholes make life so. Much. Better.
One of my favorite stories is this lady had extremely bad OCD. Every day sheād be late to work because she was convinced that her hair dryer was going to burn down the house so would always have to turn around and check it. Multiple times a day even. A bunch of doctors tied to āfixā her of that fear, until one day she got a doctor that suggested she bring the hair dryer with her. Other doctors were annoyed, saying that wasnāt a the correct way to help, but she gave it a go. When she had that fear, sheād look over and see the hair dryer unplugged in the seat next to her and was able to carry on. I think itās such a perfect example of actually helping someone instead of forcing them into a neurotypical standard.
That story helped me stop repeatedly checking if my front door was locked. Instead of checking that the door was locked over and over I would check my security system app. If itās on it will alert me if the front door opens.
āā¦actually helping someone instead of forcing them into a neurotypical standardā should be added to the Hippocratic Oath.
Started reading about the door and I thought they were gonna say they took the door with them

Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. Those are the countries. It will be drought-resistant species, mostly acacias. And this is a brilliant idea you have no idea oh my Christ
This will create so many jobs and regenerate so many communities and aaaaaahhhhhhh
more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Green_Wall
itās already happening, and already having positive effects. this is wonderful, why have i not heard of this before? iām so happy!
Oh yes, acacia trees.
They fix nitrogen and improve soil quality.
And, to make things fun, the species theyāre using practices āreverse leaf phenology.ā The trees go dormant in the rainy season and then grow their leaves again in the dry season. This means you can plant cropsĀ under the trees, in that nitrogen-rich soil, and the trees donāt compete for light because they donāt have any leaves on.
And then in the dry season, you harvest the leaves and feed them to your cows.
Crops grown under acacia trees have better yield than those grown without them. Considerably better.
So, this isnāt just about stopping the advancement of the Sahara - itās also about improving food security for the entire sub-Saharan belt and possiblyĀ reclaiming some of the desert as productive land.
Of course, before the āgreen revolution,ā the farmers knew to plant acacia trees - itās a traditional practice that they were convinced to abandon in favor of āmore reliableā artificial fertilizers (that caused soil degradation, soil erosion, etc).
This is why you listen to the people who, you know, have lived with and on land for centuries.
^ The bold.
This is literally the most heart warming story I have read on Twitter so far. I think this is exactly what friends should do, and I feel everyone deserves people like this.
A barn rasing:Ā a collective action of a community, in which a barn for one of the members is built or rebuilt collectively by members of the community.
because you cannot, you CANNOT, build a barn on your own, and without it, you will not be able to survive.Ā
What a fuckinā gem of a sentence.Ā āWhat we did today was a barn rasināĀ
look at this extremely chaotic video my fiancƩ took of our cat
āWe heard youse are behind on your payments to Fat Tony.ā
I ALMOST SPIT MY ROOTBEER
āThink youāre all aesthetic, huh? A real instagram Wiseguy!Ā You want something to blog about? Weāll give ya something to blog about!ā
āHey Johnny! Look at this fuckin mook! Laying on his stupid back like a dumb turtle letās go fuck with him.ā
Even LGBT people are afraid to create LGBT rep half the time because you fucking goblins critique things with LGBT rep so harshly that the second it does something that you personally donāt like it gets treated even worse than the shows that have absolutely no rep in them.
Demonizing every show that is earnestly trying to provide the rep weāve been lacking is NOT THE WAY TO GET BETTER REP
Remember when Dream Daddy was called homophobic because a horror-themed (and non-canon, might I add) ending was found in the gameās code? Like y'all go after everything that isnāt the most saccharine, unproblematic, nothing-bad-happens-ever shit and Iām so, so sick of it. This keeps us from getting LGBT+ rep thatās actually interesting and in interesting situations! I want actual stories, but I guess you guys donāt. You just want a perfect little picture to hang on your wall.
Treating all gay people as uwu soft beans is a form of homophobia in itself, and thatās the tea. Make problematic gay characters!! Give lgbt characters flaws!! Give them interesting, non stereotypical personalities!! Weāre human, and humans are flawed by nature, so treat us as such and donāt get pissed because of it.

Okay but for anyone who legit wants to know how to calculate it correctly:
The elbow joint on average rests a couple inches higher than the navel, so if you measure how long the distance is from the middle of the shoulder to that point then you have the length of the upper and fore arms!
So if anyoneās wondering about legs too, the simplest rule of thumb is that the length from the top of the leg to the knee is equal to the distance between the top of the leg and the bottom of the pectorals:
And I wanna stress that when i sayĀ ātop of the legā iām not talking about the crotch (please donāt flag me tumblr itās an anatomical term) iām talking about the point where the femur connects to the pelvis, which is higher up on the hips:
Itās easier to see what Iām talking about in this photo of a man squatting:Ā
So yeah if you use that measurement when using this technique you should get fairly realistically proportioned legs:
But remember! messing with proportions is an important and fun part of character design! Know the rules first so you can then break them however you please!
HOW THE HELL DID I FIND THIS POST OMG
