I—I just saw someone on tiktok talking about under a video basiclly saying that not liking Rhysand and liking Tamlin makes you racist which is so astoundingly dumb and what a way to water down why people dislike the man—But that’s not the point of what Imma talk about right now.
In the comments someone was talking about how the Illyrians are written/talked about like colonialist stereotypes, which that is true. HOWEVER, this was meant to be a defence of Rhysand. (and again to the point that not liking him is based in racism.)
I’m sorry, the Illyrians…? You mean the SAME Illyrians that before we even meet them RHYSAND, CASSIAN AND AZRIEL make sure that Feyre and we the audience know are “backwards” - “uncivilized” and “brutish” and that the bat boys are “the good ones”. THOSE ILLYRIANS? Amren? And Mor? Who refer to the Illyrians and the bat boys themselves as brutes and bastards..?
Genuinely before we EVER even meet a single Illyrian character outside of the bat men, it’s RHYSAND himself and the inner circle who make the first comments about how “backwards” the Illyrians are. (If that is wrong plz let me know and tell me where any comments before those are thank you thank you!)
I—I have no words.
I’m fucking crying—my Mother is reading acomaf for the first time and she’s at the part where they’re at the Summer Court.
And she was just having a laughing fit over Feyre taking black diamonds from Tarquin as a thank you present, and Cressida saying it suits her.
For context my mother is really into gems and stones and in the gem world according to her black diamonds are basically worth nothing or at least comparatively MUCH less than everything else she was looking at.
Like they’re worth like 10$ a carat and rubies comparatively are worth like, 10,000$ a carat.
The accidental implication of this is actually very funny to me.
The Fox and The Firebird
Vassian (1/5)
I’m actually really proud of this one given I had to improvise Vassa’s design on the fly. I really like their hair and eyes a lot. And I don’t draw animals very often so glad that came out decent.
Vassian is done, on to Azris in June! If you’d like to be tagged in any of the future artworks please comment or dm to let me know which one(s)!
My mutual was crashing out to be about this but I thought I’d bring it up here too.
For how much of the series takes place in Illyria, for how important Illyria is the the “bat boys” backstory, for how integral the abuse against Illyrian women is when depicting the place. It is genuinely criminal that the the first time we hear an Illyrian woman both have a name, and speaking lines…..is in Silver Flames.
It takes us until past the point where series was supposed to end, to get a female Illyrian character. The series was going to end originally, before we got a female Illyrian character.
In fact the ONLY other Illyrian character we had at all in the series until SF was Lord Devlon.
Can we as a community/fandom accept that because you love a certain ship it doesn’t automatically mean you hate the other love interest option? And even if you do, literally who cares.
Like because you like Elucien or Gwynriel it doesn’t mean you hate Elriel or even hate Elain herself and vice versa. It all comes down to a preference.
And even more, you can hate a character for reasons that aren’t even related to the ships, or hell even related to them as characters/people.(Like out of world stuff, or how you think they’re handled/written).
Preferring Elucien or Elriel doesn’t mean you hate Elain. Prefering Gywnriel doesn’t mean you hate Elain. Wanting two fictional characters to explore a possible relationship will never be the same as telling a real life woman to talk to a guy she doesn’t want to.
Literally just block people and move on if you hate their opinions so much.

Starlight Pool
Art of my acotar oc Lavena. Based sorta on the Pool of Starlight in Spring. I lowkey gave up on the background but oh well this one’s been sitting in my W.I.Ps for too long.
I need to post lore about her and my other ocs at some point but she’s my most depressing acotar oc. Everyone else at least post canon (for now), or at the end of the main timeline in Silver Flames (again, for now), are mostly happy…..not Lavena though.
I don't know if any of y'all have seen the unofficial acotar musical that pixelplayhouse has been developing over the last 6 months or so, but they released a Rhysand song from his bargain with Feyre under the mountain a couple weeks ago and it just goes to show that any adaptation these books get are going to completely miss what sjm actually wrote and later swept under the rug.
First: The artwork accompanying the songs do lot trying to make the whole situation better than it was.
This is supposed to be when Rhysand makes a bargain with Feyre. They've portrayed him standing a respectable distance away, noticeably NOT twisting the bone sticking out of her arm.
Next the dress. So much for 2 panels of sheer fabric and a belt. I get that YT won't allow nudity, but this is just a dress.
Furthermore, some lyrics and the picture fails to take into account the fact that Rhys forcibly drugged her with faerie wine. One line says something like, "don't keep your goblet full" but the fact that he forced her to drink is essentially nonexistent.
And then this is how they decide to portray the dancing. I guess if this is how everyone in the pro crowd sees it, i get why they'd want to excuse Rhys for everything, but when Lucien comes to see Feyre after Rhysand trots her out the first time, we get on page confirmation that the dancing was not wholesome:
Again: I get that some stuff can't be shown on sites like YT, but to utterly take the teeth out of these scenes is a disservice to what was written
Overall, the lyrics are pretty close to the book, but they threw in this line to absolve Rhysand of forcing Feyre to do anything and making it look like she just played along for...no reason? I guess?
I guess I figured they'd do something like this, but it was still disappointing to see
No cause this genuinely bothers me a lot. Like I get artistically if you can’t draw her COMPLETELY naked because YT doesn’t allow nudity but you can still elude to the dress being sheer anyways. But that’s not what this is, it’s just deceitful.
The ENTIRE point of the dress is to by physically degrading and humiliating. She is naked, drugged into black-outs in front of 100s of people for 3 months. It doesn’t work, the entire point doesn’t work if it’s just a pretty looking white dress.
It’s honestly a little sad that they do so much heavy lifting to make what Rhysand did better than it actually is by doing things like this. If you love the man, you can accept and love what he TRULY did to Feyre UTM. If you need to gloss over it and make it look better then I don’t think you actually like Rhysand.
And there’s a line that’s like “It doesn’t end unless you play a role” only the problem is Feyre WASN’T playing a role. She never was. She was drugged to the point of blacking out, forcibly humiliated and degraded every night for three months. There was no “role” for her to play. She LIVED that situation. Again the song completely ignores that in order to make Rhysand more sympathetic. Keeping the line of Feyre saying “Is this necessary?!” Again makes no sense if she’s just “playing a role” because she wouldn’t be uncomfortable with what he’s forcing on her. Insisting that she’s “pretending” or “playing a role” insinuates that she had ANY control in that situation which she didn’t.
I just can’t fathom why the UTM dress on it’s own is so romanticized in this fandom. Like if you need to draw Feyre being sexy do the one she wears in the CoN which she WILLINGLY wears.
I actually despise how much the song not only ignores how terrible UTM was to Feyre BECAUSE of Rhysand’s actions, and tries to downplay how horrible it was. BUT INSTEAD, it focuses on RHYSAND?! It fully centres him and how much pain HE’S in, how awful HE feels. The entire song from what I’ve seen centres him and his emotions. Like ARE YOU KIDDING ME—!?
The way the depict UTM just proves that they KNOW what Rhysand was wrong and horrible. If they didn’t think that there would be no need to change the humiliation, the “dancing”, the drugging, the violation. But they did.
Overall this is just utterly disappointing but not at all surprising to see.

Repost from my tiktok!
I remember some E/riel shipper talking about how Lucien sees Elain sexually while she’s emaciated and depressed. And ok whatever sure, I Lowkey forgot the context of the line they showed.
But what’s wild is if THAT’s the standard that we’re meant to judge the canon/possibly canon couples, then WHAT IN HOT PIPING HAND OF GOD IS MOST OF SILVER FLAMES?? It’s so much of Cassian talking about how much he wants to fuck Nesta and lusting after her. (while she’s not eating, depressed, self destructive ect.) 😭
Like I lowkey kept forgetting he’s supposed to love her.
some sketchbook doodles of some of the acotar characters.
mostly a bit of practice for Emerie and Gwyn, and a hairstyle I wanted to try out for Cressida.
Emerie of Illyria
Honestly I really wanted to do something for Emerie Week this year but I ran out of time to do a tone…next year I shall be better prepared…..
But either way please enjoy these doodles of our lovely Illyrian lady!
@emerieweekofficial / @my-maasverse.
OKI! Votes are in and this is the timeline that came out! Imma try to stick to it as best I can. This lil road map will be under all the drawings.
If you wanna drop you favourite ships in the comments and talk about what you like about them or their dynamic/possible dynamic of it feel free to do so!
And if anyone wants to be tagged in a specific art work/ship drop that you do and for which works in the comments as well and I’ll add you to a list!
:)
It’s wild the Acotar Wiki says the Illyrians have a ‘rich culture’ cause genuinely, outside of the Blood Rite, tattoos, living in tents for the most part, being warriors, and abusing women (if you deign to call that culture).
What to we ACTUALLY know about their culture beyond the most bare bones things. Cause I’m drawing blanks. 😭
