omg, omg, I just found more
OOH OOH OOH!
This scene concept was not from the first version of the Tinker Bell movie, but another drafted after that was scrapped, by Sharon Morrill, which John Lasseter apparently abhorred.
From this article by Dominic Von Reidemann, “Lasseter even hated the trilogy’s concept: Tinker Bell’s best friend discovers that boy fairies live in another part of Neverland. That sets the stage for a Romeo and Juliet story, where two lovers are caught in a war between the boy and girl fairies. The first movie ends with the Romeo fairy sacrificing himself to save his love, and the Juliet fairy going with Tinker Bell to see a performance by an all-girl fairy group informally called “The Pixie Chicks.”
In the second and third movies, Tinker Bell discovers that the Romeo fairy isn’t actually dead, and the trilogy ends happily ever after. Think it sucks? So did John Lasseter.”
The next idea featured Peter and the lost boys, so, “Lasseter told Morrill he “would not support a (Tinker Bell) movie with Peter Pan in it.””
I very much agree! Thank you, Mr. Lasseter, for saving us from these disgraces…
(I still find the idea of “The Pixie Chicks” hilarious, but this pop rock fairy band vibe does not fit the franchise, and honestly, the movies would not have been taken seriously by ANYONE if they had been produced.)
That first Romeo and Juliet kinda story does seem like a mess and I’m totally okay with it not being a thing, but I still really wanna see more of this.

@disney-rapunzel-merida-vanellope (idk you but you made the og post) @sailorplanet1997
Yeah, it's a book coming out in November called Bleakwatch Chronicles: Tinker Bell and The Lost City by Zach Loran Clark.
If you look at the art Ozwald's original name is Quantum, so I think the book just lifted the designs of the characters. The movie blew up a little last year with some popular posts, so I think they are trying to bring DF back in some way. Quin's design is based off of Ember and Axel also seems to be based of of the character in the middle (can't see when I'm typing)

little timeline of marketing for Tinker Bell
-> 2002. Disney is adapting Gail Carson Levine’s “Ella Enchanted”
-> 2003. four people from Disney Press take Levine to lunch and ask her to invent the Disney Fairies books
-> 2004. Ella Enchanted comes out
-> 2005. Levine’s Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Eggs comes out
-> 2008. Tinker Bell film comes out
just thinking about the levels of simultaneous marketing and media that were produced through this. By having the fresh familiarity with Levine through the Ella Enchanted movie, it marketed the Fairy Dust books, then (as mentioned before on this blog) the fairy books themselves were inspiration and marketing for the Tinker Bell film
Hi Mary! I think that youre right basically! But I also think based on some things that Gail had said on her blog, the timeline isn't clear with the books and movies 🤔 and where the "early version" comes in- so I thought I'd share some things I've hypothesized about the timeline
thanks for expanding on it!! 💐 ✨
i also want to add this about Levine’s inspiration to Raymond’s edited version:
In her forward to my 10th anniversary edition of Quest for the Egg, Levine says:
“editors showed me other illustrations, which were of fairies doing this or that […] I decided Tink would be able to repair almost anything; tinkering would be her talent. Talent? I thought of the fairies in the illustrations doing this or that — exercising their talents. Each fairy could have a talent. They could fall into groups.”
She invents talents, then we get the film version with the whole movie plot being about Tink’s talent!
