One way to get tasks done in the day is to make yourself a Chekhov's List. Put all of the things you have to do on a list, and now that they've been revealed they'll need to be completed by the afternoon (third act) and when you've completed something you can Chekov that task from the list
Does anyone know what to do about the temperature and also the prices

i think when actors need to leave a show for whatever reason but the character is important and doesnt need to be written off / writing them off would make the story worse i think they should just hire a new actor for the character but, and this is the crucial bit, hire a similar-looking actor of a different gender. Yeppp they look different bc they transitioned between seasons. Obviously
Sung to the tune of that song from K-pop demon hunters (what I hear)

did a bit of driving through the state of georgia today and wound up driving through a small town that i later discovered was called newborn, which is an odd name but doesn’t technically have anything wrong with it, except for the fact that i nearly gave myself whiplash doing a double-take at a building sign advertising NEWBORN TAXIDERMY
NEWBORN TAXIDERMY
your move, Hemingway
On this day, 5 July 1948, the UK National Health Service (NHS) was founded, on the principle that medical treatment should be provided according to need rather than the ability to pay. The idea for the NHS was not the result of individual enlightenment, but of working-class self-organisation. The inspiration for the NHS came from the Tredegar Workmen’s Medical Aid Society in South Wales, where coal miners and steelworkers paid in a small weekly subscription. By the start of World War II, 95% of Tredegar was covered by the society. Philip Prosser was born with club foot and received treatment as a result of his father's membership of the Society. He recounted: "I was taken to one of the top orthopaedic doctors in Wales and that was the start of my treatment for quite a few years. When the NHS came in in 1948, I was transferred over. It was exactly the same as the NHS in 1948. We already had it in Tredegar before that." During World War II, to motivate millions of people to sacrifice and dedicate themselves to the war effort, the government promised reforms to benefit working-class people after the war was over. Conservative MP Quentin Hogg had warned Parliament that "if you do not give the people social reform, they are going to give you social revolution." Sure enough, after the war ended, servicemen returning home, and others, began demanding better conditions, backing it up with direct action, like a huge wave of squatting. The NHS was part of a package of reforms introduced following the conflict to ensure social peace. But almost right away, it came under attack. Legislation to bring in prescription charges was introduced by the Labour Party in 1949. Then fees for dental treatments were introduced, and since then the free, socialised service has been under attack from successive governments who have gradually introduced more charges, marketisation and privatisation. Meanwhile, health workers, patients and local communities have continuously fought to defend it. I know i've said it before, but if you are concerned it could be real and not a scam, the best way to avoid getting scammed is to return contact separately.
Here's how that works:
say you get a text from your internet provider, let's say it's Comcast (whom i hate). So you have this text that says it's from Comcast about your bill with a contact number and a clickable link -- could be real, could be a scam.
Don't touch anything about this text. Open a web browser and look up the customer service number for Comcast. Or get the number from the bill they send you. However you do it, get the contact info for Comcast from a trusted source, like an official phone directory or the Comcast website itself.
Get in touch with them using that information.
So. Let's run the example both ways it could go.
If it IS a scam: you reach out to Comcast and tell them you were contacted about a problem with your bill, they look you up in their customer database, and they tell you there is no problem with your bill.
If it's NOT a scam, you do the same thing, they look you up, and they explain the problem. In this case, neither Comcast nor the employees involved give a single shit whether or not you clicked the link in the text vs. going through their official website.
This works the same for the your bank, the IRS, Amazon, political causes, charities, everything.
By handling any questionable incoming calls to action this way, you significantly protect yourself from scams and malware and shit
You can do this with phone calls too!!! If a company calls you asking for some info or about a problem with you card/account/whatever you can ask them for a reference number for your case and call back later. You don't have to give a reason but if you feel awkward you can just say you have a meeting in 2 minutes but can call back another time to deal with it.
If it's not scam they'll be like sure, here's the reference number. Then you follow the instructions above, call the separate number you find yourself on a reputable website and give that person the reference number. And they'll help you resolve the issue.
Don't let scammers scare you over the phone into giving them sensitive information!!!!
great addition ^^^
The trusted source part is important -- make sure you get the contact info off an email/official mail that you are 100% certain is theirs, or off a website that you are 100% certain is theirs! Do not google it and assume that the first result is correct -- scammers have been known to use SEO and data poisoning tricks to put their own fake contact numbers at the tops of these searches. It's a lot of work so it doesn't happen all the time, but it does occasionally happen.
You can get bank information off the back of your debit card usually.
The AI misinformation engine has learned to put SCAM numbers and emails into that fucking overview thing.
DO NOT TRUST AN AI OVERVIEW if it gives you contact info.
GO DIRECTLY TO COMPANY WEBSITE.
For those in the UK (because I dunno of this works elsewhere, try it and report back) if you're bummed at having to make an outgoing call and deal with the Trunking Automated Menu of Doom™️ situation, try hitting *0 on your keypad instead of any given menu option.
If active, this shortcut will take you straight through to the most general customer service team who can either help or redirect you.
If it's a 'TeLl Us YoUr IsSuE aNd We'Ll PuT yOu ThRoUgH tO ThE rElEvAnT tEaM' robot voice situation, say 'speak to a human' repeatedly and the same often happens.
I am like a customer service STILETTO. Trust me. Also, unrelated, if you have any kind of complaint be KIND, be RESPECTFUL, remember the person on the phone's name and use it, and say 'I known you're not responsible for this and just trying to help and I need you to know I'm [emotion name ie frustrated/infuriated/murderous/livid/despondent] about X situation.' We name our emotions like grownups!
You can also say I want to LOG A FORMAL COMPLAINT and ESCALATE IT TODAY. Magic phrases also include 'I am highly dissatisfied with the company and will be mentioning to friends and family to use other providers'.
Good luck brave soldiers. Don't get scammed, don't get frustrated, don't get fobbed off 😘😘
things I’ve noticed in the UK:
- when you’re jay walking, cars will actively accelerate bc the drivers want to kill you for breaking the rules
- servers in restaurants act very scared and apologetic, so maybe people aren’t nice to them here??? or I could be terrifying
- it’s really cute when little kids have British accents, but I’m unmoved by adults with accents
- extremely good gluten free options. this country is like 20 years ahead of Canada in that regard
- people will give random insignificant buildings names with little plaques. and then that’s the name that shows up on the map. like even a smaller than average family home, you can name it like it’s a dog
- lots of brick and stone buildings. looks cute and charming until you enter one and there’s no air conditioning
- people are still wearing jaguar print. I like this. don’t let it die
ohhh okay! amendment: cars will actively try to kill you for being small and made of flesh, instead of cool and metal like them
