OK, but has anybody written DC x DP with an ex-Talon Nightwing AU?
Skip past all of the deprogramming stuff and start with the main four boys all comfortably brothers (Jason never died because Dick is such a mother hen).
Nightwing (name-pending) is a very rarely seen hero, who is technically part of the justice league, but does not make public appearances. He strictly shows up when the world is ending or when heroes need information that can only be gathered by an insanely well-trained person.
Though he still at peak physical fitness, he doesn’t want to risk ever falling back into his programming.
He’s also ridiculously protective over his little brothers and by extension any sidekick younger than him.
There is and will always be a part of Dick that none of his family understand or can relate to. There’s a certain trauma that comes with being undead or half dead that no one can relate to. Of course he says he’s fine but there’s a hint of loneliness as he tries and fails to make meaningful connections with Deadman and Grundy.
He runs into Danny after a cliché “bad reveal means he needs to GTFO” storyline.
Something much deeper than he can explain, whispers to Dick that this kid is A, also dead and B, in need of serious help.
Whether or not you want to include the absolutely fucked up mental status that would come from Danny being vivisected depends on the author. But it would also be another point that Danny and Dick can deeply relate with, and Dick is uniquely qualified to help.
But either way, Dick picks up Danny like a stray kitten and brings him back to the Batcave.
Originally Danny was a bit freaked out but could tell Dick was a kindred soul, just not a ghost or something from the Infinite Realms. He’s so physically and emotionally exhausted that he decides to take a chance with this guy.
Later, someone comes down to the Batcave for whatever and acknowledges Dick in the medbay but they’re distracted. It takes them walking by the med bay three times before they notice that the black-haired, blue-eyed teen that Dick was tending to was not Tim.
Danny has to do his introductions to the rest of the family while Dick is still obsessively testing his baseline vitals.

Jack Frost HC 1:
After seeing his memories, the rest of them all kind of just came back to him. And after knowing about and remembering, not to mention seeing, his death, he notices things he never did before. Specifically the contrast between how he looked in life. He used to blame his appearance on being a wintery guy with wintery magic. Now he looks at it differently. The way his lips and flush are more lilac than pink. How he doesn't need to eat or sleep but chooses to for comfort at times. How cold he is to the touch. Corpse like. The contrast between tan skin, pink tinged cheeks and warm liveliness and the paler than death skin, lilac tinge and coolness. Every time he sees his appearance all he can think of is a corpse. He has had many panic attacks, spirals and a now distinct aversion to mirrors ever since.
conversations overheard through the batkid com lines pt 20 (masterpost here)
Dick: i was- see that's the thing, i was an absolute asshole to you,
Jason: oh you were.
Tim: and that's what i don't understand! like, Wing you fucking ooze big brotherlyness.
Dick: -aw,
Jason: ew?
Tim: -the fuck did you end up like this when every story Hood tells us about your relationship before ethiopia is absolutely fucking insane.
Dick: *laughs* you know i was worse, too- because i had absolutely no place holding the amount of beef with you as i did,
Jason: the Shit You Used To Say-
Dick: *claps in delight* the shit i used to say! dude- Hood, i was fucking out of pocket,
Jason: i was twelve.
Dick: you were- *abrupt wheeze, breathy giggles* you were twelve!
Tim: he can't have been that bad, i mean it's still Wing we're talking about. he's won the Gotham vigilante awards for biggest cinnamon role five years running.
Dick: *laughing* no- to be fair, i was HORRIBLE back when Hood was a kid. the only reason i learned my lesson is because he took the phrase 'traumatise them back' as a challenge.
Jason: *wheeze* yeah, we talk- we talk a LOT about the shit you used to pull, but we don't talk enough about how much i made you regret that shit real quick,
Damian: what on earth could you have possibly done?
Dick: i remember-
Jason: *gasping wheeze*
Dick, amused: shut up! i remember i had to take him out for coffee once and as we were walking down the street there was this old fat guy who kinda stopped in front of us and Hood froze, and the guy kept going and i looked at Hood and i went-, i- *laughter* i said, 'what, was that one of the guys you used to suck off for money back on the streets?'
Tim: *gasp* NO
Jason: *wheeze* wait-
Dick: *cackle of laughter* no wait- you don't-
Jason: *high-pitched weeps*
Dick: -so Hood looks at me and just goes *abrupt serious voice* 'yeah.' *even louder wheeze*
Jason: i'm crying-
Tim: OH MY GOD??
Damian, mystified: you said that to a child?
Dick: I FUCKING- I SWEAR TO GOD HE GOES 'yeah' MY HEART DROPS,
Jason:, weakly: yeah,
Dick: I WAS LIKE 'oh my fucking god he actually was a child prosititute. the first Robin just made fun of a rape victim i have to die immediately.'
Jason: *still laughing*
Damian, confused: but Hood- i remember you telling me about the time you lived on the streets. you would have told me if you'd ever had to sell yourself.
Tim: why would he tell you?
Damian, insant: because unlike you, Red, my brothers actually like me- anyway, Hood, you weren't a prostitute.
Jason: *coughing* i know i just- i said it on instinct to freak him out. fuckin' worked, too, you should have seen the size of the ice cream he bought me as an apology.
Dick: *delirious giggling* yeah man, i- fuck, you think i'm a good brother now? that shit only developed because Hood spent his early teenage years doing the brotherhood equivalent of psychologically squirting a misbehaving puppy with a squirt-gun.
Tim: why were you- why- why were you like that?!
Jason: dude- he wen't from the circus to new-parent Batman, at what point did you think anybody taught him how to act???
Tim, holding back laughter: i- ok point.
Damian: i would have thought Alfred would do something.
Jason: last week Alfred shot a squirrel through the kitchen window.
Dick: *bursts out laughing*
Damian: HE SHOT A SQUIRREL?
Tim: *starting to laugh* aw fuck- you sent Robin after him Hood, we're all fucked,
Damian: WHY WOULD HE SHOOT A SQUIRREL?!
Dick, choking: squirrel told him he couldn't have guns in the house.
Jason: *painful wheeze*
Tim: *gasping laughter* s-squirrel told him that guns killed his parents,
Dick: *high pitched* -oh my god im in pain-
Jason: he told squirrel that a man killed his parents, not a gun, but squirrel wasn't having it.
Damian: you're all monsters.
Tim, Dick, and Jason: *start laughing again*
conversations overheard on the batkid com lines pt 13 (masterpost here)
Tim: guys, Batman is pissing me off tonight. i need revenge ideas, go.
Bruce: i am on this line- i'm literally standing right next to you, Red Robin.
Dick: shut up B, we're brain storming here.
Damian: you could hack the Batmobile's radio to only play that ad jingle that he hates so much.
Bruce: Robin?!
Tim: this is good, this is good,
Dick: just do what Hood used to do and write revenge porn.
Tim: sorry, Hood used to what now?!
Bruce: Oracle, kick Nightwing from this line.
Oracle: not a chance, please elaborate Nightwing.
Dick, giggling: yeah, he used to- O, get Hood in this call, he loves talking about this it's hysterical.
*ping*
Jason: -tell me where the site is or you'll be jerking off with a fucking prosthetic for the rest of your life, asshole, now- *distant scared whimpers* -TELL ME!
Tim, sweetly: hiya Hood~
Jason: the fu- what- *thump* ...when'd i join this line? why am i here?
Dick: i requested it, i want a Red Hood story-time.
Bruce, firmly: no.
Damian and Tim, simultaneously: yes!
Jason: eh?
Dick: they want to know about the revenge porn you did on B back when you were in Gotham Academy.
Bruce: NO.
Jason: OH- *wheezes*
distant unknown male voice, barely heard through Jason's laughter: c-can i- can i go...?
Jason: *cough* AHA- y-yeah man, fuckin- HA- *wheeze* go for it, i'll track you down later, *cackling*
Dick: this was the story that made me start liking Hood as a little brother, by the way.
Jason: so- *wheeze* so B really pissed me off this one time when i was Robin, i can't even remember why,
Dick: he grounded you for calling Mr Freeze a 'cunt' in front of a group of pre-schoolers you were rescuing.
Jason: OH YEAH-! and part of the grounding was that he forced me to take part in the theatre department bullshit going on down at the school for like, community service, where a bunch of kids in my class were writing an original musical to put on for the end of year show. i was pretty good at english lit, so when my teacher heard i had to join she put me on the writers squad or whatever and pretty much told us to have at it.
Jason: except i was really pissed off at B at the time, so i convinced everybody that the musical should be about Gotham's own Batman, and then i decided to add in Superman and make him Batman's gay love interest.
Damian: oh my god
Dick: *wheezing* it- it was so fucking cool-
Tim: holy- IN FRONT OF THE ENTIRE SCHOOL?!
Jason: *cackle* *high pitched* yeah- that's not- that's not even- dude it gets so much worse-
Bruce: it was not funny.
Dick, crying: god it so was...
Jason: AND I MADE THAT SHIT- I MADE IT SO EMOTIONAL, TOO-
Dick: YOU REALLY DID- LIKE IT WAS GOOD, THAT WAS THE THING,
Tim: *laughing*
Damian: please tell me you have a copy of the script, Hood
Jason: annotated and signed, i'll drop it round the cave later
Damian: i love you.
Tim: *laughing harder*
Dick: even better, i still have the fuckin' video,
Tim: THERES A VIDEO?!
Bruce: *disgruntled groan*
Jason: holy shit- dude you still have it?! I LOST MY COPY WHEN I DIED!
Dick: oh Jay, i would not have deleted that video if it saved you from the fucking Joker.
Bruce, scandalised: NIGHTWING.
Jason: NO- NO, AS HE FUCKING SHOULD B, I SENT IT TO HIM TO KEEP SAFE, AS HE FUCKING SHOULD-
Damian: is the video of the whole play?
Dick: well kind of? but littlewing, littlewing's a fucking genius so he- *wheeze*
Jason: i didn't want to act in the actual musical, so they put me on stagehand shit and i ended up in charge of the official school's video production, and i just- *laughter* i just fuckin'- i fuckin filmed B's reaction in the audience for like- *wheeze* the whole fucking play-
Dick: THE BEST PART- best part was B 100% got sucked into the story,
Bruce: I DID NOT.
Jason: YOU CRIED DURING THE ENDING KISS.
Dick: *bursts out laughing*
Tim: SORRY-?!
Damian: Nightwing i want that video.
Dick: *still laughing*
Jason: to this day, best thing i ever did as a child. i don't care about my legacy as Robin, i'm just happy i got to produce such a masterpiece. i should write a sequel-,
Tim: PLEASE,
Bruce: ok that's it,
Tim: B, what are you-
*ping*
Dick: what'd- what-
Oracle: Batman, you can't kick Red Hood from the line.
Bruce: WELL YOU DIDN'T DO ANYTHING-!
god i love making Damian into a mini Jason. 'akhi' Jason who was literally the only authoriative male figure Damian grew up with apart from Ra's. Jason's dialect, his facial expressions, his humor. Damian inherited it all. Talia watched Damian turn into a mini Red Hood and knew for a fucking fact him going to Gotham would be a dead giveaway that Jason was still alive, and since Jason wasn't ready for an identity reveal she had to coach Damian on Not Acting Like That just to keep the secrecy.
so Damian shows up in Gotham supremely self concious about NOT acting like his big brother. leading him to overcompensate and act like an edwardian school boy/draco malfoy hybrid. and he keeps it up. for like a year.
and then Jason comes back and reveals he's alive, and the family bullshit gets sorted out, and Damian's still just... instinctively acting how Talia told him he had to in order to protect his brother.
except for the fact that the second Damian is in Jason's presence, who he actually is comes FLOODING back. and suddenly the family get to watch Damian walk into a room, lock eyes with Jason, and just like. slump in on himself like a deflated balloon.
"Fuck're you doin?" He drawls easily, sticking his hands in his pockets and sauntering over to where Jason is tapping at the batcomputer. Dick and Tim blink cluelessly but Jason just shrugs, not looking away from the screen.
"Stealin' Bruce's info on this case. You know 'is password for that file?"
"Fuck'm I s'posed to know?" Damian sends him a beweildered look, one that's almost identical to the face Jason himself gives Dick whenever Dick asks to hang out. "I don't give a shit about that stuff."
"Well neither do I!" Jason grumbles indignantly, tapping furiously at the keyboard. "Where's the fuckin- fuckin-" He starts snapping his fingers repeatedly. "Whatshisname. Where's the fucker's' good at this shit. Lil bitch boy Replacement."
"Drake?" Damian checks easily, and Dick bites his lip as next to him, Tim's face tranforms into the most incredulous glare of rage he's ever seen in his life.
"Yeah, that's the fucker."
Damian grunts, tilting his head to the side before swinging his body around to scan the rest of the batcave. His gaze lands on Dick and Tim, and he jerks his head over. "Drake, come help us with this shit."
"What the fuck happened to you." Tim demands instantly. "What the fuck is wrong with you."
Damian scrunches his face up like he's stupid, and when Jason finally turns around from the batcomputer, it's with the exact same fucking expression.
Dick and Tim stare at the identical duo, horrified.
"What?" Both Damian and Jason ask simultaneously.
"I'm gonna throw up," Tim murmurs.
anyway Damian is the Red Hood's little brother and it should fucking show end of essay.

So what if Jack’s hair turned back to his human color in certain situations like if he’s a bit too overwhelmed
Like the other guardians aren’t aware right?
Like Jack isn’t one to be overwhelmed that easily as he is
Jack is just “welp I died before what else can get me haha”
But one day perhaps something literally catches on fire randomly in Santa’s workshop and got on his hoodie
And Jack is just TERRIFIED because fire is not his thing
He is Mr. Snowball and Fun Times
And BAM! he’s back to a brunet for a good ten minutes
The other guardians are just “uhhh Jack”
But Jack is too busy trying to fight off the fire on his sleeve and isn’t aware
When they brought it up Jack is just “haha y’all are lying” and goes on his merry way
But if Jack is literally straight up depressed about something, maybe if something happened to a child or something or he got into an argument with one of the Guardians?
His hair is brunet AND his eyes are brown.
Jack tries to write it off but the guardians are just “Jack, you are not fine”
The guardians are creeped out themselves because they never seen him look so very human and they remember how young he really was when he fell into the ice
Some Jack Frost headcannons!
Remember, these have been conjured up in my own brain, so it’s totally fine if you believe something else!!
(Most of these are all based around how touch starved he is, lol)
*So, we all know he can’t touch or interact with anyone/anything really, except the snow. I feel like that might have something to do with why he’s so chaotic sometimes (blizzard of 68, ahem). Like, thats one of the ONLY things he can mess around with, he’s bound to whack a few kids in the face with it, right?
*Like I’ve said before, in my mind, he’s so very touch-starved. But not necessarily that he’d actively seek out touch..? I think that first night he wanted someone not to walk through him, to brush shoulders with someone, etc. Now he still wants that, but it’s been several hundred years so he’s kinda just pushed those feelings away.
*We see at the Pole when the Yeti’s come up behind him, he jumps and turns around, frightened and scared. He’s obviously not used to it.
*But I don’t think he’d be a pushover and let you/anyone touch him in places he doesn’t like, he still has boundaries, even if he’s a little unsure how to bring them up. We see that when Tooth is looking and poking around his mouth, he was making noises and North had to tell her to leave him alone. He’s so unused to touch, he doesn’t even know how to tell someone not to touch him.
*When he pretends to fall off the sleigh to scare Bunny, it’s obviously just him being silly to scare him because if you look closely, he looks at him with a grin before hopping on the edge. And when he’s laying on the foot thing looking up at him with a grin, I know his heart is secretly racing, wanting connection with anyone.
*I want to see him try a soda or minty toothpaste or something. I feel like it would be that one meme of a guy chugging soda and he slams his face into a garage door.
ROTG Headcanon #6
Bunny & Jack both dislike the Groundhog.
Bunny for his usual reasons, and Jack because "seeing your shadow doesn't determine whether winter stays or goes, I do" type shi
Just some sketches of Navee
One of my OC's and their lore:
@scarletteart1, @lofie607
I'm thinking about writing a book and I'll write about the books lore in another post, and she would be/be one of the main characters if and when I write it.
Navee Ferrier~
She's a 17 year old girl, who grew up in downtown Chicago(?) and she has a twin sister Emily Ferrier.
Childhood and young life/ backstory: Her name, Navee, was picked by her father, while her sister was named by their mother. Their mother wanted her daughters to be graceful, elegant and ladylike, beautiful in every way, so she chose Emily, which sounded sweet and delicate to her. Their father, however, always wanted a son, so he wanted at least one of his girls to be strong, tough, masculine, basically the son he never had. So he chose Navee, like Navy, but their mother insisted on the spelling being at least somewhat pretty. When they were really little, their parents weren't so bad. They weren't ideal though. They parented the girls almost separately. They all lived together and their mother cooked for them all, and their father drove both of them, but Emily was almost solely parented by their mother, while Navee was mostly parented by their father, aside from whole family activities. Despite that, they were always really close. Emily was raised with impossible beauty standards but her mother was loving enough, and she got spoiled belonging wise. Navee was raised as if she were a boy basically, with mens clothes and doing more typically 'masculine' activities and sports. When they were 8, their mother had a mental breakdown because she was losing her appearance and she totally lost it and ended up in a mental hospital for a 72 hour hold and after that she was just generally unstable. Their dad resorted to drinking because of this, and unluckily for the Ferrier sisters, he was an angry drunk. Navee took most of the beatings, not for any reason other than she chose to guard Emily from their fathers fists. She was raised as if she were Emily's brother and it had always been expected of her to protect Emily, and it stuck. Because of this, she suffered all the physical abuse, while Emily and her both endured the emotional abuse together.
CPS was called when the girls were 10 and had been found by the neighbors sleeping on the sidewalk by their house because their parents were having a huge fight and there was screaming and things breaking and being thrown and fists were flying. They bounced around foster care for a few years before getting adopted by a wealthy family in Wyoming at age 12. Their adoptive parents were very kind to both girls and treated them well, and were never abusive in any form. But they were always closer with Emily, and at times it seemed like they all knew something and were in on something that Navee wasn't, but she convinced herself it was just paranoia. Emily ended up with a good amount of friends and she started dating kinda young, and she does soccer. Navee on the other hand wasn't very quick to make friends and had a lot harder of a time adjusting. She did make a couple friends by the time she started high school though, and she started doing basketball and volleyball.
Lore lore/aka the shit that went down that the book will be about: In her sophomore year, at 15, their was this huge virus scare. The government sent a ton of their doctors/scientists out to all the schools in the USA to give the kids vaccinations and physicals, as well as testing them for the virus, kids with the virus were transported to the hospital for emergency quarantine. Or at least, that's what they were told. It seemed weird to Navee, because all of the kids, including herself, who were infected and moved out to the vans, were the healthiest seeming kids in school. The kids who played sports and were active, the kids with good medical history, the ones who got frequent check ups and always passed, the kids who never seemed anything but healthy and active. Navee didn't realize until the gas filled the back of the van and the kids around her started passing out, that maybe she should've listened to that instinct and ran. But she didn't dwell on it too long before the gas got her too, and she fell limp against the boy beside her. No more spoilers because i've heard about people having their plots stolen and because I gotta leave some mystery.
Her appearance/basically just what she looks like and shit: I know in the edit I made (https://www.tumblr.com/gigglemeshiggles/807305474456322048/edit-i-made-of-my-oc-let-me-know-what-yall?source=share, here's a link to said edit) she had a blind eye, tattoos and piercings, which she will, just not yet, that was more of a grown up her, kind of like, in the middle of towards the end of the story. At this point in time, at fifteen, she doesn't yet. Navee has really dark hair, raven hair. It's pretty long, it goes just above her waist and it's pretty wavy, it's also really thick. She has tan brown skin (Hispanic baddie) and she's got really, really dark eyes that could pass for black. She has a good amount of muscle. I'm taking biceps, six pack abs, thick thighs to save lives, typa shit. She plays sports, she works out and most of her childhood was spent outside working or doing something with her dad/protecting Emily so she gonna be strong. She also took after her dad looks wise, and that includes height. Her dad was a tall guy, he was 6'1. Navee is 5'9, which is tall for a girl, and in my personal experience, tall for a guy too. She's got broad-ish shoulders but not too broad, and she's got decently wide hips, this girl would be an amazing belly dancer or just dancer in general just becuse of her strength and body type, in my opinion. She has thick eyebrows and eyelashes. She's got fat lips, they are pink, round and fat and I love 'em. She has high cheekbones, a really defined jawline and just generally sharp features. She has point canines, they're like mini fangs. She has a decent amount of scars from her dad, being a rough and tumble type of kid, and also she was a very impulsive child and pretty clumsy which got her into a lot of trouble. She grew out of her impulsivity, hyper nature and impulsive behavior after their parents got bad and stuff, because trauma changes you.
Personality: As a kid, like I said, she was very impulsive. She acted first, thought later. She was extremely hyper, she always had a shit ton of energy and she was just bouncing off the walls, which was usually channeled into yard work, sports or wrestling with kids in her neighborhood or her dad. She had zero brain to mouth filter which got her in a butt load of trouble in elementary school. But a lot of that changed when their mom had her breakdown and her father started drinking and hitting her. She became much more of an introvert. She still likes chatting and people but her trust is broken and she's always paranoid and waiting so she never feels comfortable enough to do so. She does really well in school because she's a good listener and she processes things quickly. She seems outwardly like the lner type, but she really does love company she just doesn't know how to be human anymore it feels like to her. She gets along well with her teammates in basketball and volleyball. She's hyper independent because she's scared that if she lets people take care of her or gets used to it, they'll just break apart and hurt her like her parents did. She also never lets her guard down and she feels like it's her job to be strong for Emily and to take care of her. Emily is more emotional than her, not as strong, doesn't know how to be hyper independent, because of Navee's protection and because of their mothers coddling. Navee took it up on herself to basically parent her twin sister. She emotionally supports her, defends and protects her with everything she has, sacrifices herself for Emily. Another thing about her, is that Navee is very confrontational. If she has a problem, you best believe she says it. If you wanna fight, shell fight and she'll fuck you up. She's not afraid to say her opinions and make her stances very clear. If she doesn't like you or you piss her off, you will know. Outwardly, she's very cold and detached, and inwardly to some extent, but she also has her softness and emotions, not hidden or buried just shielded it, so they won't be exploited or crushed ever again, causing her to seem like an indifferent and angry person when she isn't. She's 100% the quiet kid.
Lemme know what y'all think :)
Edit I made of my oc, let me know what y'all think. She got lore too
HIIII HELLOOOO🦄🦄 can you feed us with something about dally coming to buck's instead of robbing that store right after johnny's death? he's already very overwhelmed and he's barely keeping it together, but the moment he sees buck's face he just starts sobbing and hollering like a baby and has a meltdown in general😭 (MAN how I love angst!!)
I've fallen in love with this concept, hi hello, let's go.
Dally didn't know what to do. He hadn't felt like this since the night he'd run away from New York and the events leading up to it.
His throat was raw from screaming and he felt nauseous but determined. He wasn't sure what he was determined of though.
Johnny was gone. His Johnny. The kid he'd sworn would never lead the life he had.
Johnny who was the good in his world. The small light in the sea of violent black, red and grey. The person who showed him clarity, that maybe life was more than just surviving. Who was every bit of the innocence and joy and integrity that he'd lost along the way. The person who showed him how to be kind, human, despite the pain and desperation of the lives they'd been forced to endure.
The person who gave him purpose in life.
Was gone.
And it was his fault.
If he had been better, done better, Johnny would still be there. If had run into that stupid burning church with them and helped they would've escaped quicker. If he'd dragged Pony and Johnny out sooner, they'd be fine. If he'd let the fat man put Pony out and gone to get Johnny a second sooner, he'd still be here. If he'd run faster. If he'd turned away before the brats jumped out. If he'd done something differently, Johnny would still be here, and they'd be okay.
Dally felt like something in him had cracked open wide and he didn't know how to fix it or fake it like he usually did. He'd broken down and ran. Fuck, he'd left Pony all alone in the hospital in his haste, yet another thing wrong because of him.
He ran as fast as he could and just as far. He ran until his feet bled in his shoes and his lungs screamed for air and his stomach heaved from exhaustion. He didn't know where his feet would carry him but he didn't care anymore. Whether they led him to train tracks or crossfire or the middle of a highway, what did it matter to him? Or anyone?
If his blood stained the roads the children walked or the guys took to work or school? If his flesh ground into the tracks of the trains that had carried him here, and Johnny away? If his bones were crushed and molded into the highway Johnny had dreamed would take him somewhere away from here? Would he haunt anyone's narrative? Would anyone grieve him years later, as rain brought the last of his blood down the drain, along with the memory of Dallas Winston? Would anyone scream till iron coated their throat and ran till they met a similar fate, like he was for Johnny? Would anyone scream and sob and deny his death the way they did the Curtis parents? Would anyone cry at his grave or leave flowers in his wake the way a grieving widow leaves her husband's grave? Would anyone cling to his body till the warmth left it like a mother would her dying daughter?
He doubted it. He wouldn't do that for himself given the opportunity, why would anyone else? Their grief would begin and end with Johnny Cade and Dallas Winston and the trail of blood and tears that followed him would be long forgotten and would never see light again.
Maybe that's what he deserved. To die a meaningless, worthless hood, it was all he'd been good for in life anyways. He couldn't even preserve the one thing he'd sworn to shield, how pathetic could he get?
It wasn't until warm, strong arms wrapped around him that Dally realized where he'd run.
Buck Merril's voice cut through the fog in his mind. "Oh baby, I heard."
The bar owners voice was soft and quiet, like he was speaking to something fragile and small, and it made Dally break into a million pieces then and there.
He melted into the embrace, body shaking with violent sobs as his body heaved and his throat tore open again as the screaming ripped out of him again.
He wasn't sure how long they stood like this. Dally sobbing and inconsolable and screaming about how it was unfair and all his fault, and Buck simply holding him through it all. After what felt like an eternity, Buck wrapped Dally in his coat and carried him bridal style up the flight of stairs to his room. They curled up in buck's bed, Buck holding a still inconsolable Dallas, careful of his burned arm.
Being called baby and looked at as if fragile was something Dally had never let himself want, but now, like this, he needed it, and he, for once in his life, got what he needed. Someone who saw him as more than a monster and more than a hood and more than violent or mean or awful. Dallas Winston was devastated, but maybe he'd survive. Or maybe, for the first time, he'd love instead of survive, for Johnny if nothing else.
I heart your dally and buck hcs please feed us more young!dally and buck
Your wish is my command. (Thx btw <3)
Okay, so Dally didn't immediately move in with Buck. That would just be silly.
But he did take the job offer, because desperate times come for desperate measures
So now we got this little, starved 13 year old working for this bar owner with annoyingly persistent paternal instincts that he will attempt to deny.
Dally didn't start out right off the bat as a horse jockey, originally his job was just to take care of the horses. Then Buck's jockey quit and he asked Dally to fill in till he found someone.
Dally ended up being pretty good at it and he really enjoyed it, though he'd rather die than admit it, so buck just taught him the ropes and let him keep going.
It took Dally a good 9 months to actually move in with Buck.
Buck started offering around month 3 of Dally working with him, but Dally has severe trust issues
Even after moving in, he didn't fully trust Buck.
It took Dally a long time to truly and fully trust Buck, it was a long process and it had its ups and downs.
But he really started to trust Buck when he was about 14, and after living with him for a few months.
The major turning point was when he had like, a horrible nightmare that had him waking up screaming and swinging and sobbing and crying, and instead of taking advantage of leaving him, Buck held him and held his hair when he sobbed so hard he was sick.
He really trusted Buck after that, because he's so used to being hurt and people taking from him, not holding him or being patient or hiding his hair back. It was new but he liked it and it was the first time he'd really grown a relationship with an older man that was healthy and non toxic.
Buck made him breakfast the next morning but didn't try to make him talk but let him know that if he needed to, he was there.
Dally won't lie, he cried, because no one had ever been that nice to him before.
Buck was confused, thinking he said the wrong thing when Dally started crying, and panicked a bit.
Dally ended turning away, trying to hide his face because he was embarrassed but Buck just gave him an awkward side hug and said if he didn't want to talk it was fine there was no need to cry over it, and dally let out a wet giggle.
From that point on, Dally had really stopped looking at him like he was his #1 OPP and become a lot more comfortable.
He wasn't fully himself yet but he was a lot more genuine. Less tough guy attitude and more of the childish side.
He doesn't mask his accent around Buck, because Buck knew him from day 1, so there was no point.
Buck thinks it's really funny when Dally hides the accent in public, especially because there are a few words that he can't get right no matter what.
Coffee and Johnny are the hardest ones for him. And car.
Buck loves it.
Buck sees Dally as his little crybaby, in an affectionate and sweet way, not mocking.
Not that he doesn't know Dally's tough, he's seen that little thing fight, it's a little scary how unhinged he is.
But that's still his baby.
I have more thoughts on this but I don't wanna make this too long.
Buck and Dally's meltdown:
Dally was about fourteen in this, recently after moving in, but a year and a half after actually meeting Buck.
Dallas Winston was overwhelmed. He couldn't describe it but everything was wrong and terrible. He'd just gotten over a cold and his nose was still stuffy and it was bugging him, the toes of his shoes had gotten went from the soggy grass and mud and it had soaked into his socks and he was genuinely bothered by it for reasons he couldn't name. His hair kept touching his face and it had gone from annoying to genuinely maddening. He'd been irritable all day and he'd been short with the gang and blown up at Two-Bit for something stupid and he felt terrible and bad and guilty and just generally sucky about it. And he was unreasonably upset at every noise and sensation and he was glad to finally be home. He had gone straight to his room and taken off the socks and shoes before faceplanting into his bed.
He wanted to cry and scream and wallow and just not feel anything anymore. He'd changed out of his jeans and taken off his leather jacket, now wearing sweats and a large hoodie he was pretty sure he took from Buck. He was curled up in the corner of his bed and buried in pillows and blankets and he was trying to block out the world. He let out, what would mortify him in the future, an honest to God whimper when Buck opened the door to ask him if he was hungry.
Buck immediately clocked that there was something wrong, it was hard not to. He moved over to the bed and pulled back some of the blankets to look at Dallas.
"Dally, bud, what's going on?"
"Nothing." Dally bit out, that unreasonable anger coming back as the sound of talking grated at his nerves for seemingly no reason.
"C'mon, don't do that now, just tell me what's bothering ya, doll."
Dally let out a hiss at the nickname but when Buck rubbed his arm, he immediately broke. So, so much was wrong but he didn't know what or why.
The sound of his hiccups echoed in the room as tears dripped down his cheeks in rapid succession.
"Everything is wrong," he mumbled wetly, cursing himself for how young and childish he sounded.
"What's wrong with everythin'?" Buck asked as gently as he could, gruff tone softening just slightly.
"it's to loud, and too bright and too wrong, and everything is annoying and I'm upset about everything but I don't know why, and I yelled at Two-Bit and I snapped at the others because everything is bad and they were so noisy and-" Dally cut himself off with a slight, hiccuping sob. "And I feel bad and they hate me now."
Buck moved to sit in the bed with Dally, pulling the small fourteen year old into his arms, shushing him.
"C'mon on now, they ain't gonna hate you, sweetheart. Everyone has bad days, ain't no need to get so worked up. We can be real quiet and turn off the lights and just like here and that wouldn't be wrong would it? Easy fix." The older man soothed in the best way he knew how.
"My socks got wet." Dally felt the unexplainable urge to add, voice thick and cheeks still damp.
"That's spilt milk, hon, you can just change your socks." Buck hummed as he pushed Dally's hair out of his eyes, barely managing to hold back a snicker when the youngers lip just out in a barely there pout that he probably wasn't aware of.
"They were wet while I was away from my other socks." He huffed, sniffing as the last of his tears stopped.
They spent the rest of the evening curled up in Dally's bed with the lights off, curtains pulled shut and silent as possible, with blankets and pillows all over, until they both fell into unconsciousness in the dark and quiet room.
Dally and Buck hcs
Buck was the first person Dally actually met in tulsa
Dally came to Tulsa when he was 12-14 depending on the day for me, for this let's say 13
He came in on a train, kinda like how Johnny and Pony went to Windrixville.
He didn't know where he was heading, he just wanted to escape the gangs and New York and his parents, so he jumped into a train, and passed out in one of the train cars.
he woke up and the train was still moving so he just figured it had been long enough and jumped out of the moving train.
He was injured at the time, with a wonky healing bullet wounds in his ankle/calf area and he was tired and starving and in a place he'd never been before
It was super early, like, barely sunrise, so he stole from a random store
just chips and bandaids. And a pepsi
He wandered around Tulsa until it got busy-ish and he was on the verge of a breakdown by the end of the day because he had no idea what he'd been thinking.
A drunk stumbled out of Buck's bar, having been thrown out at the same time Dally had been walking down the street. The drunk guy was angry and swinging shit around and they ended up in a fight.
Dally was fighting pretty well, but the guy was drunk to the point of not processing pain so he didn't slow down even when Dally hit him good, and Dally was sober and very able to feel pain.
Buck, who was going out for a smoke or to throw some other drunk out, saw this huge burly drunk guy swinging on a small, scrawny kid who had obvious bloodstain on his calf and was swinging a switchblade at the guy with all his might
Buck intervened and he was looked at Dallas real good after the drunk had gone off.
The kid was like no one he'd ever seen. He was small and scrappy and he had wild hair. His skin was porcelain and he had eyes too pale and hair too white
he was also covered in bruises and cuts and blood
but he wasn't crying or wincing, just staring at Buck like he was gonna shank him.
What Buck did next was impulsive.
But the kid looked so small and abused and he had to.
So he asked the literal 13 year old if he liked beer.
Dally, caught off guard but not wanting to seem weaker than he already appeared, confidently said yes
Buck realized his mistake at the answer but he took Dally into the bar.
Dally was quickly overwhelmed but didn't let it show.
Buck offered him a beer which he pretended not to notice Dally spitting it out when he "wasn't" looking.
They talked for a bit, mostly Buck asking questions and stuff.
Then, when the kid started to get defensive and move to leave, in a half desperate attempt, because for some reason the sight of the kid just hurt him, he asked if he was looking for a job
Anyone want a second part to these?
