Unpopular opinion: I…actually like that Stella is a villain? Like straight up evil villain? She reminds me of Maleficent!! A bad bitch who revels in cruelty! Like I miss those kinds of villains! I miss seeing a bad bitch whose cruel and terrible and doesn’t feel sorry for it. Pls more badass female villains!

Edit: Just an edit to say, while I love that Stella is a villain I don’t think her actions themselves are badass, I just love that she’s evil. I’m firmly on Stolas’ side. You get that fucking divorce Demon King.

So Octavia is an only child, but despite his clear and shameless disdain for children Paimon has already had “so fucking many” by the time Stolas is a young kid and that was only sons! Who knows how many daughters he had? How many more children did he have after the time of that flashback? I wouldn’t be surprised if not all of his kids were legitimate, hence possibly not even acknowledged and raised in the palace. And based on his specifying that Stolas is “the owl boy” and his casual shapeshifting into wildly different forms when he showed up, the kids and their mothers could all be any number of species.

What happened to all those siblings then? Were any of them the ‘favourite’ and paid more attention and respect to by their father, though probably still conditionally? Does Octavia have cousins?

Actually… yeah, where are Stolas’s siblings in the earliest flashback section? None of them appear to celebrate his birthday. He’s so lonely he needs to literally be bought a friend to play with; neither he nor Paimon even consider him spending time with other members of their supposedly large family. Is each individual kid isolated much like Stolas, all love-starved despite technically having many relationships? Were they abused in different ways leading to complicated dynamics that estranged them to each other? Or do the others get along fine and Stolas is just left behind, perhaps because he’s the youngest and they’re all busy with their respective royal duties? And nowadays given the pressure on the royal heirs to produce heirs of their own Octavia quite likely does have at least one cousin, yet she had no friends before Vortex, so either she doesn’t know them well enough to have formed an emotional bond or they know each other and are hostile. I’m getting a very twisted picture of the dynamics besides parent and child in this family. At least we understand the substance of the parent child dynamics. Really hope future episodes explore some Goetian sibling/cousin/aunt/uncle interactions.

This is a thing my dad used to do- keep the kids emotionally if not physically distant from each other so that when you trickle them little bits of affection, you can be their entire world. My brother and I barely talked until we were 24 and 16.
