Does anyone have any good Indigenous American literature on two-spirit and the role it plays in the culture? Also any fiction featuring two-spirit characters?
The site above has a great starting list with books I've been meaning to read, as well as videos and articles.
2S roles vary by Tribe/Nation, as I understand it.
@moniquill @tepkunset Any other Native followers please feel free to add!
^^^ Great resource above, co-signing!
Some fictional book recs with 2S rep:
"Love Beyond Body, Space & Time" A collection of Indigenous sci-fi and urban fantasy short stories focusing on Indigiqueer and 2S characters by various authors.
"Between Earth and Sky" Series by Rebecca Roanhorse An an epic fantasy series inspired by pre-Columbian Americas. It's a great mixture of clashing politics, prophecy, and fantastic characters. There is a large cast with different genders and sexualities, including characters within cultures outside of a binary gender system. (The first novel is Black Sun)
And here is one that I haven't personally red (yet) but have heard positive things about: "Jonny Appleseed" by Joshua Whitehead
Flesh-eating screwworm returns to U.S. after 60 years, threatening cattle herd
The case of New World screwworm was confirmed in a 3-week-old calf in La Pryor, Texas, near the U.S.-Mexico border, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said.

everybody: you’ve got to advocate for yourself in medical settings!
medical professionals when a patient advocates for themselves in a medical setting (x100 if that patient is a part of any minority): damn. you’re a hypochondriac crazy bitch who has every mental illness and is seeking every narcotic in existence. that’s the only reason you’d be disappointed in the care you’re receiving here. in retaliation, we will be even less helpful and less sympathetic. our jobs are hard. people are dying. we don’t have time to deal with anyone who is slightly inconvenient for us.
You're not motivated enough.
You have something wrong with you. No, not something we can do anything about. You're just Wrong. Not wrong enough that you can't work, but too wrong to be able to help you.
You don't need medication to mitigate your suffering. You're the only cause of your suffering. The fact that you can look me in the eyes long enough to tell me what's wrong means you're not autistic (a real problem with real consequences, unlike yours). You're not looking at me. This means you are avoidant. This means you just need to stop avoiding things. It's all in your head. But a psychiatrist can't help you.
You just told me a side effect of your new medication. However, I am unfamiliar with all but the most common of side effects, and it's not one of them. You must be lying to me about how you feel when you take it.
There's no point in trying to help someone who doesn't want to help themselves.
You keep asking for disability benefits because you've been unable to work for over a decade. It's too early to give you that. What if you stop trying to get better as soon as you're not in constant economic stress? A diagnosis would just confirm to you that you can't do it.
Advocate for yourself! Don't let your doctor walk all over you! But please remember to be extremely careful. Doctors are very fragile, you see. A patient disagreeing with them... Well. Let's say the next doctor will be forewarned. You are a difficult patient after all.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
If the trash pickup people stop doing their job for two weeks you'd be throwing a fucking tantrum. Same for the janitors who keep your office spaces and bathrooms clean. (And that's before the various illnesses start to spread all over your city from the build up of pathogens.)
The people responsible keeping our spaces clean (and thus, mostly disease-free) should both be paid more AND thanked more.
Just a casual reminder that posting on the internet about how you would want to do physical harm to members of the US government is something that they can (and will) detain you over, so just be careful what you say in public spaces like, uh, on Tumblr.
I have got bad news for you about how connecting to the internet works and how corporations will respond to requests from the government.
this is your semi-regular reminder that tumblr has cooperated with the fbi to hand over user information in a very public way at least once. and that's not the only way the feds can collect information on you either

what if we promised to keep living? would you do that for me? would you do that for yourself?
even if you're scared, just promise me tomorrow?
you made it and im so proud of you, I'll see you tomorrow?
guys i am fucking crying i got an old copy of pilgrims progress from a used booksale and i just opened it and there's a handwritten dedication to a girl from her grandfather from christmas 1888 and she put a little fucking drawing in the back and im sitting on my bed losing my fucking mind over a hundred years ago a grandpa gave this book to "miss maggie" and she loved it and it's lasted a century and im holding it right now
i showed the book to my mom when she came home from a trip and she reminded me that in little women (1868) each of the march sisters got a copy of pilgrim’s progress under their pillow for christmas there is a high, high, HIGH chance that this little girl was a huge fan of little women and talked to her grandfather about it and he got her a classic book just like her 1880s blorbos i am flailing on the ground humanity is so special
ok mood thank u emily dickinson relatable queen
Can you recommend creator guides on typography? That one is going to be disastrous for me and I haven't made much improvements. Thank you

This is a perfect time to read the brilliant and unforgettable graphic novel(s) Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, about growing up in Iran during and after the Iranian Revolution, and the rise of the oppressive theocracy that persists to this day.
Both graphic novels are available free online (Persepolis vol. 1, Persepolis vol. 2)
It also was adapted to a wonderful film (co-directed and co-written by the author) which is available to watch for free on Sundance Now (sign up for the free trial)
My art book Woodlands is coming to Kickstarter this summer! If you haven't yet, go ahead and click the "Notify me on launch" button on the campaign page. 💜
