We here, Chiron.
Moonlight (2016) dir. Barry Jenkins
I’m so tired of 2016.
(Facebook NYT)
I’m so tired of 2016. All of this “information” keeps piling up about that damned election and sometimes I get to the point where it’s like:
1. Is somebody about to be punished? No? Then leave me alone. 2. Is someone about to craft new regulations so it doesn’t happen again? No? Then leave me alone. 3. Is this going to lead to Trump not being in office? No? Then leave me alone. 4. Is this going to make stupid people any less stupid about where they get their information and what they choose to believe is factual information? No? Then leave me alone.
In the grand scheme of things, I hope this mountain continues to add to the overall unease in the country so people remain fired up to vote and push back against a woefully corrupt political process. In each individual moment though……….I’m still sitting here like “Please leave me alone.”
Like forreal. Can we just go back to 2012? The Spice Girls reunited for the Opening Ceremonies at the London Olympics. The world did not actually end, much to the chagrin of many a Mayan Doomsday Predictor. Game of Thrones had their Blackwater episode, which was a precursor of epic things to come. Lil Quvenzhane Wallis stole all our hearts in Beasts of the Southern Wild. The first Hunger Games movie came out and literally no one hated Jennifer Lawrence yet.
Then again…there was the Sandy Hook shooting, the Aurora movie theater shooting, Putin was elected President, Whitney Houston died, and Hurricane Sandy killed hundreds of people. So basically, the news cycle is literally always a shitshow, which will make you feel better or worse about the current state of affairs depending on if you’re a glass half full or glass half empty kind of person and whether the liquid is alcoholic in nature.

Praying and sending vibrations to everyone in Charlottesville. Completely unsurprised that this shit happened. This was always coming and it’s not new. America is built on soil that’s rich with blood. How the fuck could anything but chaos bloom from such soil. Also what’s good with tagging the fuck out of those pictures of the white fuckboy nation. I know y'all know them. I mean, if fat girls can get dragged for wearing bikinis and daring not to hate themselves, it really seems like it’s time for some internet trolling retribution.
I know- that’s not compassionate. It’s hateful and foul. And I’m sure there’s someone ready to be offended by the notion of a hateful yoga teacher who endorses trolling white supremacists.
If I’m being really honest, I don’t even think of myself as a teacher. When the rubber hits the road, I’m just a practitioner with an Instagram account who talks too much. And regarding the internet dragging of white supremacists, I’m the granddaughter of slaves. What the fuck do you expect.

RIP Nelsan Ellis (November 30, 1978 - July 8, 2017) He was a wonderful person, a pioneer, and a one of a kind artist. - Joe Manganiello
quick protip: if someone is crying or freaking out over something minor, eg wifi not connecting, can’t find their hat, people talking too loud, do NOT tell them how small or petty the problem is to make it better. they know. they would probably love to calm down. you are doing the furthest possible thing from helping. people don’t have to earn expressions of feelings.
I’m just gonna put it out there that if someone’s freaking about something small, they’re really freaking out about something big that they’re trying to deal with, or something long term that’s been building up, and that little thing is the straw that broke the camel’s back.
I don’t know, try and give people the benefit of the doubt. Don’t be the next straw on their broken back.
Needed this today.
People don’t actually go from 0 to 60. If you think they did, you have failed to notice how long they’ve been at 59.
