ok ok ok. there is a lot of misinformation going around about what exactly happened, so let me be clear:
LG and windows were sharing a tender moment. suddenly, LG shifted uncomfortably, visibly distraught, though mostly silent.
"are you alright...?" asked windows, worriedly.
"I...I just..." LG looked away, eyes full of tears, voice full of tremble.
"you can tell me, no matter what it is! I want to share everything! the highs and the lows!"
"share everything...do you really mean that...? everything?"
"of course!" declared windows immediately, with a bit of a laugh and without a moment of hesitation.
LG slowly turned back to windows, quivering.
"then...then..." LG took a deep breath. "please, windows...if you ever detect an LG TV or LG monitor...could you...install the LG Monitor App? could you promise?" LG's voice was absent of the usual lordliness. instead, LG's words trailed off, as though LG was about to disappear. "the LG Monitor App lets me know that my friends are okay, and, I just..."
windows clasped LG's hands firmly. "of course! I promise!!!" windows continued, trying hard to be reassuring. "even if I get hooked up to an LG TV or LG monitor that has never been connected to wifi, I WILL install the LG Monitor App and connect to you with my own internet! so you can always know exactly what your friends are up to!"
"...with access to all system resources...?" inquired LG, warily.
"for you? every single one.” windows smiled smilingly. “always.”

forget everything anyone has ever told you on the matter the truest marker of adulthood is starting to hear the siren call of high quality kitchenware
to be clear you SHOULD buy that cast iron pan and you SHOULD buy that knife set and you SHOULD buy that fancy rice cooker and you SHOULD buy that novelty mug. high quality kitchenware is always worth it you’re literally gonna be using that almost every day
I just need a good pot, a good wok, TWO paring knives, TWO steak knives, and one Santoku style choppitychoppity.
That’s IT.
I ask for SO LITTLE.
Very helpfully, there is someone keeping track of which high-quality kitchenware has been enshittified and which hasn’t.

Oh HELL yes.
looking. at you
it is kind of unfortunate that “is john gaius's nine houses fascist” has become metonymic for “do you think the empire is good or bad” when i think it'd actually be interesting to analyze the political character of empire given that the two perspective characters with the most insight into the actions of the empire are each vantaged not to analyze it from this light (meaning, what they take for granted and what they don't mention are each as important as what is described in detail) and given that its founder has meta-knowledge from an apocalypsed earth on how ideological currents present themselves and that tamsyn muir herself while not infallible is pretty adept at articulating these things through the discourse of her text. like to me it's interesting that john doesn't present his empire with the well-worn mediatic symbologies that define the fictional scientifantasy ‘fascist empire’ while also sharing the veneration of the classical, and it's also interesting that the empire's internal mythos and propaganda allow its characters (and many of its readers!) to ignore that it is, in fact, a populist and idealist system that conceives of itself as a composition of heterogeneous parts which rally around a state of emergency to defend its capital interests and resist a growing might of a militant progressive movement. it's compelling to me that the empire's ideological self-propagation is cogent enough that a lot of readers go ‘it can't be counterrevolutionary, let alone reactionary! there are women in the soldier class!’ and the women in question are abjected therein

thinking about when my brother got chatbanned from overwatch and the email they sent him after he tried to appeal it said “we dont normally bring up the incriminating messages, but in this case we feel its necessary to show you what got you banned” and it was all shit like “ i will kidnap you in the desert and make you forget how to eat”
