Along with the usual, absurd savings that come with these sales, Steam has put up a massive incentive to spend your money in their store.

The Lost Podcast
so... We have had about a month off and moved office, when Josh notices that the last podcast was never uploaded!!!!
We know that all of the prices and stuff will be old but it was a good episode and youll have a good laugh, we will post it in about an hour!
THAT'S ALL FOLKS! The beta period for EA's Battlefield 3 is officially over!
My first impressions of BF3 beta, weren't super positive, but I was almost too excited to care at the time. It started with a whopping 3.9GB download (over 3 times larger than the console equivalent.) and then moved on to hassles with graphics card drivers, browser plug-ins and the new Battlelog system. Once all of the set up fiddly bits were sorted, and once I had struggled my way through Battlelog, I was able to finally get into the game.
I spent about 11 to 12 hours on the beta, and got to about level 24. First thoughts of the actual game play in the beta were positive, with a lot of fun with the combat, and the new feel. The graphics were simply stunning, I was almost struggling to believe my eyes. The map was interesting, but very linear and wrought with forced choke points. After a while, the map available began to grow stale, as it always does in a beta. I found the levelling system seemed to be a little fast, considering the time I had hoped to spend in the game. There were a few bugs, but nothing that was completely game-breaking.
For the most part, I was sick of the demo by the 7th or 8th day, but was quite sure the game full release would be good fun.
Then came Friday night, when EA/DICE announced that another map called Caspian Border would be available for open play as a 64 player conquest map. Those who played BF2 in the past would know 64player Conquest is the home of a large portion of the greatest battlefield moments. The map is ENORMOUS, and absolutely GORGEOUS. The larger scale of Caspian, and the extra amount of trees and foliage really proved to show off the game's stunning graphics.
Within a single round, which is significantly longer than a Rush round, I was completely in love. I had suggested to Jake that it would be a great marketing move to open up this map just before the end of beta to get everybody totally hooked for the release, and I was totally spot on. This map brings back all of the things that made Battlefield truly different and special.
In conclusion, after a decent play of the BF3 beta, I am 100% excited for the full release. I had lost a little steam in the middle, but the Conquest map sealed the deal for me. The game had some pretty minor flaws, and some bugs to fix, but all in all, it was a bunch of fun, and ran impressively smoothly. My biggest concerns are that levelling may be a little too short, but only time will tell, and that the kinks in Battlelog won't be sorted.
This one definitely has my vote, I'll definitely be grabbing it on or shortly after release.

So one of the top end Gigabyte Motherboards, comes with a nice price tag of roughly $360 and more bells whistles and gadgets then you can poke your dick at.
Did I mention this is one of the VERY few Z68 boards with 16 x 16 x sli slots !!! - winner right ???
This is where I would normally throw in some specs to get all you tech mongers salivating, but the list is to long for me to even be bothered copy and pasting, so ill rant about whats cool !

So youd think for a high end awesomely feature packed motherboard they would have got it right ?
NO, dont get me wrong the board is great, and you get a shit tonne of features (which most people would never use) for your money, but where gigabyte have failed is in the simplest of things....
LAYOUT FOR FUCK SAKE, now on the odd chance Im just a moron and have got it wrong I apoligise.
But the layout of there PCI Express slots is bad, if you are one of the people who baught this board for SLI running at 16x16x youll know what i mean. In order to achieve 16x16x you need to use the 2 16x slots, which unfortunately only have 1 space between them.
So if your running ooooh lets say 2 x gigabyte GTX580's with the nice big tripple fan heatsink, you will probably find your top card is getting hot right !!
So what can you do about this ?
Solution a) water cool your video cards
Solution b) put an air conditioner on the side of your case
Solution c) move one of your cards to an 8x slot
So out of all 3 solutions, moving your card to an 8x slot seems like the most reasonable, and yes it costs nothing to do, and the performance hit will be slight, but if you were one of the people who baught this board to run SLI at 16x16x you gotta be pissed knowing you could have got say an Asrock Z68 Extreme 3 for $200 less which would have done a good job aswell.
So im going to rate this motherboard
Price 6/10
Design 3/10
Features 10/10
Performance 8/10
There you have it folks, a great motherboard with a huge fucking error
