one of the most boring lessons I’ve learned is that when a task feels overwhelming, you just have to start doing it. Even if you’re not sure how to do 90% of it, look for one small component that seems close and start there. Sometimes it’s reading one article on the topic, or searching one related term, or literally just googling how to do the task. Do anything other than thinking about it. The process of working on a thing inherently makes it less scary.
Took me until about halfway through college before I realized “study” means “play with the material in a variety of ways until you understand it” and not just “read the assigned chapters and do the homework” and I think that probably should have been discussed at some point prior to that.

hello fellow grad students, i need some help finding literature from outside my discipline.
does anyone on here do psychology (or tbh any social science would help) and know of literature on what characteristics people look for in mentors/role model? thank you in advance x infinity!
Morning rituals. Every morning J brings me a cup of coffee and we sit in bed and talk for a bit before the day starts. Then I go for a run, or read; shower, dress, sit at my desk and watch the goldfinches. These small acts keep me from untethering. With winter rolling around, the days being shorter, I am trying to enjoy every minute of sun I can get. Oh, and—I just finished reading The White Dress and it was absolutely stunning, so good I devoured it all in one sitting. A great way to start the last month of the year. 🕯✨
Getting cosy ✨
october twelfth: on early autumn mornings, I often watch the sunrise and return to campus alone. in those times, life almost begins to feel normal again.
