Which mushroom pin cushion catches your eye the most? I think I still have a soft spot for the bolete (the one with the purple caps). The stems were so fun to play with. I also really like the soft vintage feel of the cup.

I think my partner is relieved I’ve finally started using up some of my tea cups I’ve been hoarding!

I ordered one of the standard red amanita ornaments the second I learned they were available as a present for Mum. It got here today and, since we’re putting up the tree this week, I let her open it early.

So pretty! So perfect! My only regret is that I do not have enough money to order a tree’s worth of them. Seriously.

Amazing work. Thank you for helping to get what has thus far been a rotten holiday season headed in the right direction.

Black amanita muscaria mushrooms don’t quite exist but I enjoy the way they look so in my world they do!

This is the last of the mushroom pin cushions I made for a customer. It was so fun returning back to some of my older work and creating more with newfound skills of mine! I’m excited to create more in the new year!

I struggled with chronic social anxiety in my late teen & early 20’s (I’m 36 now). At one point it was so severe that I could barely leave my house and became pretty much housebound for a few years. Interactions with people - especially in spaces where I felt trapped (banks, busses, stores with bright lights, etc) filled me up with terror to the point where I avoided it altogether as much as possible. I couldn’t have a job and was on welfare. The few times I actually left my house was to wander through the woods and beach near my home. Nature was and always will be a huge source of comfort for me.

Honestly though, looking back - I can’t even say that it was the “worst time in my life” because it was when I started creating all the time. I taught myself how to dye wool, spin yarn, crochet, sew, etc. I also became obsessed with creating pretty hideous websites via coding from scratch. I also started to connect with folks all over the world online. It was kinda a fun creative time in my life. In some ways it feels like my brain was telling me that I had to stop trying to be like other people (socializing) and just give myself a big break (a few years ahem).

Slowly I got some help through medication and worked through a lot of my fears & anxiety. It took a long time but since then, I can do most things I was terrified of. I’ll always deal with anxiety but what helped me so much was being creative, exploring nature, and connecting with people who valued these two things.

So it really makes perfect sense that I’ve gotten to where I am. Creating things that have inspired me and given me comfort over the years and sharing these things with like-minded folks all over the world. 🍄🌿❤️
