Rey relaxed against Poe and sighed heavily as she enjoyed the moment. “Jakku’s atmosphere and climate plus all the emissions from speeders and stuff means it’s too dusty and smoggy to see clearly at night.” She explained as she began looking for patterns in the stars. “Is that an invitation?” She teased.

Having only been on Jakku for one night before he was captured, Poe did not think about the sky too much except from when he was going to fly out of that place but that didn’t work out too well.

“ It could be one. We have a tree that is force sensitive just outside my house that Luke gave to my mom after her last mission. You’d like it there, I think. ”

He snorted. “You don’t have to call me sir. Skywalker works just fine. Or Anakin, if you like.”

Most people he knew - or had known, rather, now that they were decades in the past - had called him General or used his surname. Since Poe had such a close connection to his daughter, it seemed almost strange to keep it so formal despite the fact that he had no actual knowledge of a child – she hadn’t happened yet in his time.

“Ah…. That.” He sighed and rocked back slightly on his heels. “I’ve…heard enough. It was…” He’d gotten physically sick when he’d learned he had - or would, rather - killed his Jedi brothers and sisters, turned to the Dark Side, and murdered Obi-Wan. “It’s… impossible to believe. I’ve seen the Holos and it’s…..” He shook his head and looked away for a moment. Palatine had been his friend. He still couldn’t believe any of it was true, and part of him wanted to believe he’d ended up in an alternate reality where things just went all wrong, but that wasn’t his destiny.

“It’s more than I like to think about. Where I was, the Clone Wars have been going on just a bit more than a year. Fifteen months and twelve days, to be exact. So this is…. overwhelming to say the least.”

As close as Poe was with Leia she had requested him to call her by her name and not just General or General Organa. It was odd for him to do that because of how much he respected and admired her. She had been the one to help him move from the New Republic to the Resistance. It was something that made him feel closer to his mother and he could never begin to thank her for that.

“I don’t know much about the dark side but what I do know is how they get you. Kylo was manipulated from a young age. That wasn’t his fault. From what Luke says, you had a similar thing going on.” The dark side seemed full of manipulation and corruption but that was to be expected with something called the dark side. “Don’t think about it. It was in the past and it wasn’t you. Not really.” If anyone was to blame he thought to be Palpatine’s.

“It can’t be easy for you. I haven’t experienced anything like that, ever, but if you need anything and you don’t want to go to family...I’m here.”

The mornings he spent with Rey made him not want to leave his room, he just wanted to stay like this all day but knew they couldn’t. “Good,” he smiled back. Without thinking and caught up in the nice moment they had, the pilot moved so he could easily bow his head down to press his lips against the scavengers own, gentle at first then slowly moving his tongue inside her mouth. As he kissed her, Poe’s hand glided up her side but rested at her waist, “I wouldn’t ever want you to go back.”
