In the early 70s Sesame Street was created with an eye towards educating poor, inner-city children for free, and became a massive hit with all children. In 2016, faced with going off the air forever after facing conservative efforts to destroy public broadcasting since basically its beginning, new episodes became a timed exclusive for premium cable network HBO. In 2022 HBO Max, newly merged with and taken over by reality TV channel Discovery, removed Sesame Street episodes and spin-offs from streaming as a tax write-off and scheme to avoid paying residuals.
Sesame Street's official YouTube channel is uploading the episodes for free, btw. A lot of creators are rebelling against this bullshit.
Sesame Street on PBS KIDS. Play games with Elmo, Big Bird, Abby and all of your Sesame Street friends. Watch videos and print coloring pages
As always, America, PBS has you and your kids' backs.
I also want to put in a plug for the American Archive of Public Broadcasting, spearheaded by GBH in Boston to preserve and make available public funded programming from around the country. More than 7000 public television and radio programs are available to stream through the website, with more than 40000 hours of programming archived and available to researchers and educators through the Library of Congress and GBH itself.

The Washington Post published a story so horrifying this weekend that it would stop your breath: âThe Justice Department and FBI have formally acknowledged that nearly every examiner in an elite FBI forensic unit gave flawed testimony in almost all trials in which they offered evidence against criminal defendants over more than a two-decade period before 2000.â
What went wrong? The Post continues: âOf 28 examiners with the FBI Laboratoryâs microscopic hair comparison unit, 26 overstated forensic matches in ways that favored prosecutors in more than 95 percent of the 268 trials reviewed so far.â The shameful, horrifying errors were uncovered in a massive, three-year review by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Innocence Project. Following revelations published in recent years, the two groups are helping the government with the countryâs largest ever post-conviction review of questioned forensic evidence.
Chillingly, as the Post continues, âthe cases include those of 32 defendants sentenced to death.â Of these defendants, 14 have already been executed or died in prison.
The massive review raises questions about the veracity of not just expert hair testimony, but also the bite-mark and other forensic testimony offered as objective, scientific evidence to jurors who, not unreasonably, believed that scientists in white coats knew what they were talking about. As Peter Neufeld, co-founder of the Innocence Project, put it, âThe FBIâs three-decade use of microscopic hair analysis to incriminate defendants was a complete disaster.â
This study was launched after the Post reported that flawed forensic hair matches might have led to possibly hundreds of wrongful convictions for rape, murder, and other violent crimes, dating back at least to the 1970s. In 90 percent of the cases reviewed so far, forensic examiners evidently made statements beyond the bounds of proper science. There were no scientifically accepted standards for forensic testing, yet FBI experts routinely and almost unvaryingly testified, according to the Post, âto the near-certainty of âmatchesâ of crime-scene hairs to defendants, backing their claims by citing incomplete or misleading statistics drawn from their case work.â
NACDL executive director Norman Reimer said in an interview with Associations Now that the flaws in the system had been known for years now. âWhat we were finding was that the examiners ⊠wouldnât just simply say that there was a microscopic similarity [between the two hairs], but they would go beyond that and say it was a 100 percent match, essentially misleading the jury into concluding that the evidence had a certain value that it didnât actually have,â Reimer said.
FUCK OFF ARE YOU KIDDING
what are any of you ever fucking talking about
Gen Z tradcath dudes are so funny. Like bro shut up, youâre not a knight prepared to go fight a holy crusade, youâre a racist gym rat who thinks gay people going to church is âheresyâ
The idea of Mario and Peach having any kind of relationship beyond the occasional kiss on the nose and "mama mia" is like viscerally incomprehensible to me
Not like in a prude way I just can't conceive of Mario experiencing... urges. He's a character outside the scope of that. I'm not saying he's asexual either cause positioning him on the allo/ace spectrum implies that it's a dimension of his character that at least exists, that he has at some point noticed it. I think he just jumps.
Luigi probably fucks though.
i tend to avoid discourse because most of it is trite and pointless but just this once i feel like i need to state my opinion: i think everyone should bend to my dark and evil will
âMedieval peasants couldnât handle my Spotify playlistâ but could YOU handle a medieval bard relaying the epic of Beowulf over the course of an hour? Humble yourself.

Ummmm NOT losing these tags, this is so fucking funny @astronicht
Go little scop go!

Editorial ReviewsFinally, the long awaited recording is made! Since 1990, Benjamin Bagby has been performing the great epic Beowulf at major
For context, here's Benjamin Babgy's lovely harp-accompanied version; it covers roughly the first third of the poem and takes an hour and forty minutes.
So I was looking through Chapter 3 again and this lineâs typically pretty unremarkable. Tube yogurt is like Go-Gurt or something and itâs a fun way to eat yogurt that Tennaâs probably sure kids would like. Pretty sweet!
And then I looked at the Japanese version and the line is slightly different.
Tenna literally saying âEXCITIăNG!â out loud and calling Mike ăăă€ăŻăăăïŒă aside real quick (though those are cute), this isnât the word for tube yogurt because thatâs literally ăă„ăŒăăšăŒă°ă«ă. Itâs also specifically in quotes. So what is it?
From what I can find this appears to be a play on ăăăŁăȘăĄă ăăă which is denoted in quotes since itâs a brand product ! ă㣠(Nya) and ăăŁăȘ (Nyao) are onomatopoeias for cats, and even the ă (this elongated tilde is called the wave dash in Japanese btw!) used is similar to this product while being different from the typical chĆonpu they use to elongate sounds (ăŒ).
(The wave dash is used when Tenna calls Mikeâs name as well but this is specifically because he's adding a bit of a trill to his voice.)
If you can read what I wrote or looked it up, youâll find that this is Ciao Churu. Does Churu sound familiar?
THEYâRE CAT TUBE TREATS.
This isnât odd for the Mikes to have on hand because they have 7293792 cats and Pluey. But this also means
1) Tenna knows they have Churus on hand instead of regular snacks and just accepts it
2) Tenna asks Mike to give Susie a cat treat thinking this is a normal thing for a kid to eat and they will like it
3) Susie devours that whole thing and nobody comments on it
Anyway thatâs a really funny Chapter 3 tidbit so have fun with this info!
Tie the knot â€ïž
