my stepsister died as a result of suicide 3 years back and since then i've tried to remove jokes about suicide from my vocabulary. (i'm not perfect at it! i still trip up! and then i feel really bad lol.) i see jokes about committing suicide across every platform/fandom every day so this really isn't directed at anyone specific. but it can be difficult to see suicide jokes constantly. our sports teams (for example) making us sad/mad isn't at all the same as my stepsister's lifelong struggle with profoundly disabling mental illness. so i made a chart to help us think about how to adjust our language!

and it can be empowering also to control the narrative of someone else's life tbh. i'm not going to kill myself because my team lost; i am going to chase my team with a knife. they will face my fury. i will not wish that the refs kill themselves; i will explain their missed calls, while slathering them in butter before i throw them in the big cat exhibit at the zoo. etc

I am on my period and splurged and got myself tikka masala and they did not include rice in my order and only gave me two pieces of naan and I will not lie to you, that was almost enough to move me to tears. Such an inconsequential inconvenience in the world we live in but it produced this wave of sorrow within me and reminded me God is not interested in removing his boot from my neck any time soon.
