I have a theory that Jake saving Olivia was the reality of her subconscious. Like, when he rescued her she was in her current hell, she subconsciously knows that if anybody is going to save her it's jake. I think that's what's going to happen in the real canon. The other part was like a major red herring as to why things with fitz aren't real/great. The dog, tom, mellie & his kids existed but he abandoned them, she abandoned her job & everyone she loved. Unrealistic!

Olivia subconscious was definitely having a battle. It tripped me out a little b/c all the things I was thinking with the Vermont fantasy were brought up in her dream.  So Liv thinks about all these things. I can’t get behind her and f*tz b/c I feel like she loses herself in the fantasy. With Vermont, it’s as if Liv gives up parts of herself, but everything stays the same for F*tz. I can’t believe she was walking Amanda Tanner’s dog. Okay I shouldn’t say that so definitively. I don’t know if she was, but I really hope this is a wake up call. I can’t wait to see what Olivia does from here on out.

I was hoping she wouldn’t even speak to Ian in the prison cell, and if she did she’d feed him false info. I knew the moment they snatched her, she was going to be put in a fake setting. I knew all her attempts to escape were useless, but I do still want her to get out of there on her own.

'Scandal': Where Are the Gladiators in Suits?

Could Jake join OPA? Plus scoop on the midseason return.

The so-called Gladiators in Suits on ABC’s Scandal are looking, well, a little suit-less.

Now in its fourth season, OPA’s ranks have dwindled to become “OQH” — Olivia (Kerry Washington), Quinn (Katie Lowes) and Huck (Guillermo Diaz) — as the fixers have seemingly abandoned their trademark suits in favor of B6-13 gear including combat boots and leather jackets after Abby’s (Darby Stanchfield) defection to the White House, Stephen’s (Henry Ian Cusick) departure and Harrison’s death.

"Do you realize there actually are no Gladiators in Suits? It’s a couple of B6-13 freaks helping out Olivia, that’s what’s happening in that conference room!" Stanchfield tells The Hollywood Reporter. ”I was on the show the other day and people, no one is in a suit! There’s no straight skirts or heels! You guys are B6-13 in your combat boots and leather jackets, throwing ‘tude around and Olivia is the only one in her white suit.”

The actress, who has spent the bulk of season four serving as White House press secretary, is confident that the suits may eventually return to OPA after Abby finds out that Olivia was kidnapped.

"In the next four episodes, Abby has a couple of Gladiator moments that are a throwback to her OPA days," Stanchfield says. "It was fantastic to do and I think the fans will get a kick out of it. There was one scene I was shooting where I had to go into someone’s residence and I turned to the writer and director and asked, ‘Am I picking the lock or do I have a key?!’ That says it all."

Season four will return from its midseason hiatus and pick up immediately after Olivia’s kidnapping with a story that Stanchfield calls “quite elaborate” and not an “easy fix.” “[The second half of season four] feels like we’re starting a new wave,” she notes, declining to say if the story would bring Abby — and her suits! — back to OPA. “I have a theory that eventually there will be Gladiators in Suits again!”

^^^ I feel the same way. Yeah, It’s significant in that it’s a part of Liv’s life, but I don’t think it’s distracting or detracting. Especially when there are multiple other characters and storylines going on. And especially this season, where she wasn’t even checkin for Fitz, so…

I thought I may have been the only one. Definitely, agree with the bold. There's so many other stories being told and I feel like liv's love life is just a small part of her story. Of course the media plays up the triangle with #teamjake and #teamfitz but not the narrative within the show IMO.
