I find it so incredibly endearing that Lestat gives tricker treaters candy. Like that’s a member of the community right there
HAPPY PRIDE! 🌈
Interview with the Vampire (2022 —)
The Pitt may be one of few shows we’re the binge streaming method is the more effective way to get the audience to understand the point of the show taking the course of one day. (I like week to week cause the show lasts longer BUT)
When you watch the whole show of multiple episodes back to back you get a feel for just how much everyone went through in just one day so by the end you understand their burnout far better.
what are your thoughts on the differences in the gods/religion in asoiaf?
The seven are the most important political force on the continent and also keep Davos alive so that’s nice.
Rhllor’s whole purpose seems to be to stop the long night but his strongest prophet cannot correctly interpret her own visions to accomplish this goal because her worldview is too skewed by the trauma she has incurred from being sold to God as a slave.
The ritualistic drowning/cpr revival the drowned god does is awesome as was inventing democracy. I don’t think it’s ever managed to make anything good happen.
The old gods the protagonists all worship being blood hungry and kind of evil is so so beautiful I hope jonsnow gets to tear someone’s throat out next book
forgot that davos named one of his kids after stannis. okay fine that could almost be normal. he also named one of his kids after stannis’s FATHER. you cannot make this shit up. if he ever makes it back to marya they’re popping out another son and naming him “which could maen nothyng”
When I say Targs and bald people are all evil I am NEVER talking about little bald baby Egg or little bald baby Dany because if you’re both it cancels out and makes you woke
Valyrian trait only, does NOT apply to other blond people ie Lannisters. Shaving Cersei and Tyrion makes them more evil (expected) whereas shaving Jaime makes him less evil (outlier). Tywin was already bald and evil (he wears a bald cap over his bald head), and shaving Lancel makes him Catholic (canonically gave himself a tonsure, loser/inconclusive). Stannis is like 1/4th Targ and being bald just made him an accountant but that’s because he wasn’t blond
Mike and Liam from thrown off the ice!! so devastating i bawled my gd eyes out. reread is imminent. love them to death and i know mike is a big softie, he doesnt have to tell us
I gave Liam a uniform that looks more like the minnesota wilds uniform cause i hate the color scheme of the minnesota north stars and to give Mike the Oilers uniforms cause it was the last one he wore.
I think that if there’s a way out of the circus Kinger has to be the answer or knows what they need to do. It’s very interesting that the whole escape was a trick but for some reason Caine wanted Kinger pretty much entirely left out of it. Multiple times Abel tries to pivot around including him. Then at the end of the episode Kinger has the moment of clarity about the first abstraction. Caine didn’t want want him there cause Kinger knows *something*…
They just really need to ask him questions finally.. please? Please I’m begging??

Thank you so much for answering my question! I really enjoyed reading your essay!!! Man, I really hope Kousuke gets some friends and a support circle at the end of it all, he really needs it. 🥲 This might sound stupid lol but do you think he may have a potential love interest 👀, that thought came to mind because of some curious cat answers. (I mean, he would spend 50K on an engagement ring, he really is going all in. 😂 And between him and Nol, he would be the one more likely to fall in love at first sight, which really surprises me tbh.)
I'd like to read you opinion on this lol.
Haha you're welcome! I think we all know that in general, I just love to talk ILY and I especially love to talk about Kousuke because I find the morally complicated characters SO fun - esp when we understand that characters like him are capable of growth and recovery and I really want to see it come! I, too, hope he ends up with a support circle. I'm so curious if he'll make any reconnection with his old college friend group, which actually brings me to your question!
I don't think it's stupid at all; it's inevitable to wonder this, I think, even if we know that Kousuke's *current* position is not one of someone who is looking for love lol. I want to preface that I don't want to spout any "people need to heal before they can be in a relationship" kind of talk, because the truth is, we are constantly healing, learning, unlearning, recovering, and relapsing in our daily lives. If everyone waited until they were "healthy", when would anyone fall? And frankly, that's the case with Nol and Shinae, right? The both of them are in shaky places (well, Nol more so than Shinae but the point stands), but it doesn't stop us from shipping them and wanting to see their relationship develop, wanting to see them assist each other and grow with each other. I think esp in fandom discourse we've strive to be so healthy and anti-problematic that we gravitate away from what is actually human and how people really interact, so with that in mind, I'm going to dig into this topic, because I have a LOT of thoughts, actually!
Apologies for how long it's taken to answer this; I started to reply, got overwhelmed because I was trying to really be detailed and provide lots of context and references, walked away, and then my whole PC restarted itself and I lost everything because I'm a dingdong who forgets to save in-progress posts as drafts LMAO BUT!!!! I'm here now!!!!!!
let's call a spade a spade
seeing people completely misunderstand stannis's character on reddit is pissing me off. stannis doesnt fundamentally want glory and power. he doesn't even particularly want to be king. he's not slighted by robert giving him dragonstone because he's too dumb to realize that it was traditionally the seat of targaryen heirs or whatever.
stannis more than anything else wants to be loved and respected by his brother robert. that's it. the burning core of insecurity before robert's death comes from the fact that his big brother chose ned over his actual brother, despite holding out a siege for him, despite everything. robert passing over stannis and giving storm's end to renly is about stannis feeling unacknowledged for his loyalty to his big brother, despite everything stannis does.
stannis is not a fundamentally hard and cold person. he's someone who'll nurse an injured goshawk back to health because he feels it's right. stannis lives in a world where he's told that in order to be a man you must be cruel; in order to be a falconer you must cast aside your beloved goshawk; in order to win a war you must kill your brother; in to save the world you must kill a bastard boy.
the tragedy of stannis is that everyone misunderstands him as iron, thinking he'll break before he bends. but stannis constantly bends. he bends over the sacrifice of edric storm between the counsel of mel and davos. he bends to davos' advice to go north beyond the wall. the thing about stannis is that he doesnt even much like the idea that he's azor ahai (r'hllor picks strangely, he says). but deep down he is that sad sullen boy that cressen once knew, and he wants to believe that he is the chosen. and the thing about prophecy is that it twists you into someone worse. this is why jon and dany are the heroes in a way stannis can't be: because in pursuing the prophecy that mel tells him about, stannis feels compelled to make decisions 'for the greater good' that will ultimately corrupt him and take him away from the path of justice.
but isn't that what it means to be a "hero" according to the people who make these myths? azor ahai, plunging a sword into his wife's heart, watering the blade with her blood? isn't the notion of a "hero" always about sacrifice for the greater good? maybe that's why stannis can't be the true hero of a song of ice and fire, just like rhaegar, because to hear the prophecy is to be made worse by it.
