I just learned that a lot of vintage perfumes and fragrances were intentionally created to blend well with the ever-present smell of cigarettes, and in specific a lot of iconic ones that are super musky and floral and civet-heavy were intended to compliment the smell of fur coats or even "refresh" that new fur coat smell, which is one of the reasons (besides just shifting preferences and trends) that a lot of them smell really, really bad to modern noses.

I bet there's some stunning genius diva out there right now who meticulously coordinates her Victoria's Secret body mists with her vape flavors.

Vibe: blaxsploitation era decadence. pam grier and gloria hendry with their curls and soft skin. brown as something soft and delicate. a 70s ingenue with pouty lips and doe eyes a la rosanne katon.

Artfully layering an axe bodyspray deodorant and two different perfume oils to create a tasteful mixture of amber, oud, mint, lavender, moss and petrichor, producing a scent that smells exactly like damp, stale, rotting laundry.

Today we received a sample of the newest Treading Water fragrance Coeur d'Artichaut ! It was described as a unique summer salad and it did not disappoint.

This is yet another of this house's offerings with a circulating effect. The benzoin and artichoke are tangled together in a constant ballet (as they should be considering they are the stars of the show). There's a pop of citrus in the opening followed by honeyed caramel fruits with a peek of green before landing on the artichoke fully and faithfully.

I need time to sit with it, but I'm enjoying this addition to the permanent line !
