Saddest thing ever is reading an academic paper about a threatened or declining species where you can tell the author is really trying to come up with ways the animal could hypothetically be useful to humans in a desperate attempt to get someone to care. Nobody gives a shit about the animals that “don’t affect” us and it seriously breaks my heart

I can't wait to learn so much about conservation, the environment, natural geography, evolutionary pressures, and how these domains interact with human civilization. I can't wait to take fieldwork classes! I can't wait for my upper-division research labs! I just genuinely want to become an expert in this field.

So excited to move into my housing for this upcoming year :) I've been remarkably lucky in thrifting the items on my list! Scored a good as new coffee pot yesterday.
