Need help finding a fanfic
I am starting to think that I hallucinated this fic because I have scoured the internet for it and I cannot find it anywhere💀😭
Mozart is a prince who is locked up in a tower because his father told him that he has a disease that will kill him if he leaves the castle, so he is locked up there for his own good after his mother died from the same disease
Salieri is an assassin hired by a neighboring country to kill Mozart to get rid of the royal family
Wolfgang and Nannerl exchange letters every week, and Wolfgang had sent Nannerl an opera he wrote and Nannerl has told him that people love it
(I think Salieri was hired because The Marriage of Figaro was so controversial pissed off the neighboring aristocrats, but I'm not really sure)
Wolfgang thinks that Salieri is his knight at first and puts on his crown but it falls off(when he bows?) or something
Salieri is kind of insulted and tells Mozart that he is there to kill him, so Mozart convinces Salieri to take him out of the tower to explore since he would die after one day in the outside world anyways
I think Salieri brings Mozart to an inn and goes and buys him a dress so they disguise Mozart as Salieri's girlfriend/wife and go dancing?
They sleep together after this and the next morning Mozart is not dead
They leave the inn to find Nannerl? But meets Da Ponte(?) who is another assassin hired by the same neighboring country
Da Ponte has killed Leopold and escaped easily since Leopold likes privacy and keeps his guards and advisors far away
After Leopold dies Nannerl is slightly suspicious if Wolfgang ever had a disease at all because (I think) we find out that Leopold sent Mozart away so Nannerl would rule and become queen because Leopold believed Wolfgang would be a terrible ruler
Mozart reveals who he is and Da Ponte stabs him after promising not to(?) so Salieri kills Da Ponte and continues on the horse to find Nannerl
Nannerl and Wolfgang reunite and they hug and a doctor is fetched and Wolfgang falls asleep and Salieri stays by his side until he wakes up and has a conversation with Nannerl
Mozart survives and Salieri actually becomes his knight and Mozart doesn't really want to rule anyways so he continues living as a prince, and they live happily ever after
They also have two horses named Horseleri and Horsegang(?)
Anyways I have a pretty good memory(except when it comes to the title😭) and remember too much of this fanfic for my own good
I think this was on Ao3 but I'm not too sure and I'm pretty sure it was only 1 chapter
