I needed this drag. Let’s change guys and not look back
working out your brain is a must!!
• hydrate it by drinking lots of water
• eat dark chocolate and blueberries and walnuts and salmon and other foods high in antioxidants!!
• play little brain games on your phone; I like wordconenct! anything that makes you think!
• read books. It’s simple but necessary. Even better - join a book club, or read with a friend, so you can have discussions after. This will improve your reading comprehension.
• do puzzles - it doesnt have to be sudoku, I love playing Beat Saber on the Oculus Rift because it makes my brain have to match colorful patterns to physical movements very quickly!
• learn a new dance - even a tik tok trendy dance. Learning new dance moves are proven to strengthen synapses!!
• go bird watching, or foraging, or anything outdoors that requires you to explore pattern recognition and visual searching
• watch a movie with the intent of analysis - this is best done with a cinephile friend!! talk about tropes and symbolism and character growth
• cross stitch, or sew, or do anything that requires matching nimble hand movements to patterns
• play or learn an instrument!
• develop a consistent sleep schedule (or as close to consistent as you can get!)
• when eating, try to identify the ingredients and flavors you’re perceiving!
I hope this helps :)
I like how this went from me feeling like “hm why is this attacking me 🤨” at first, but feeling grateful seeing an added guide on a genuine expansion on a “ how to” work out the brain. This genuinely helps a bunch. People find solace in doing activities that get them through life by doing said activities of phone/tv or if that’s all they’ve ever known in their life to get them through things + etc tho. However, this was very impt to point out. Slowly beginning incorporating things to work the brain in ones own time.

Can't stop thinking about the moment in S2 E3 when Stede confronts Izzy about what happened to Ed --
Izzy: "He was a wild dog, and we dealt with him like one."
Stede, without missing a beat: "You sent him to doggy heaven?" 😔
!!! That flash of a moment, when you see Izzy *realize* -- Stede knows about "doggy heaven," which means Ed told him, not just about the murder/identity-stealing plan but every detail of how Izzy and Ed had discussed it in confidence -!! The mental rearranging Izzy must have to do in that moment, the depth of trust between Ed and Stede implied by that casual revelation (and typical Con O'Fuckin'Neill managing to convey ALL that in one devastating expression...)
Meanwhile Stede's over there like "Awww, Id :(" thinking "doggy heaven" is still just regular ol' pirate slang, what a fucking masterpiece

some of my thilbo work again.Yesterday is last day of hobbit shooting…sad, and so exciting about the film.(ノД`)・゜・。
想起以前魔戒拍摄最后一天frodo的镜头,如果这次的加长版也收录最后一天的幕后镜头的话我大概还是会哭成狗吧……
没有不散的宴席O<——<好像说了一大堆跟今天发的图无关的话wwww
嗯第一张就是想画画稍微亲密点的thilbo啦,然后是【if we can back again】之类啥的妄想场景….最后丢个旧图,第一次画的thilbo看房地产啥的XDD。
Alright, we've got to talk about this scene because for a scene as short as this one, it packs a huge punch! They manage to cram a frankly impressive amount of information into less than a min. This will be a long one so strap in and let's start at the very beginning, right after Ori asks, "What about Bilbo?"
Up until this point, we have only ever heard Thorin's voice crack once. Just once, and that was when he thought that he missed his chance to enter Erebor. A huge defining moment in this quest. The second time was right here when he said, "Give him more time." Please note how Thorin is standing. Hands pressed together and head bent, his back completely turned to the mountain. He doesn't even turn his head until Balin utters the word "Killed".
Now Here Thorin says, "You're afraid." He does it in an almost accusatory way and directly after Balin finishes his above sentence. I truly think this is because he has been sitting here dreading Bilbo's fate for hours. This, combined with the dragon sickness that's starting to take hold, wreaking havoc on his psyche. In this moment, the lines between Bilbo and the treasure are getting blurred. His face is a picture of discontent and fear. So in usual Thorin fashion, he lashes out. He voices his fear to Balin as an accusation. I don't think anything articulates how bizarre Thorin is acting more than the below gif.
Balin fully leans away from him in shock, eyes searching this face before going on to say that he fears for him with tears in his eyes. Thorin is at war with himself. He's at war with the growing greed pumping through his veins, and how much he cares and worries for Bilbo. His love for Bilbo is winning because he is desperately forcing himself to detach Bilbo from himself. They go out of their way in the next 13 seconds to tell us that multiple separate times! I will break those down for you now.
Let's start here with this line and how it's said. Time and time again, clearly on and off screen, Thorin has shown his regard for Bilbo. The handful of time we see is not enough to invoke this strong of a reaction from Balin, a Dwarf who has known him his entire life. Would not hesitate is a powerful choice of words. Think of the things you would not hesitate to save from death or destruction. They're all things you love, things you can't live without. That is what Balin is implying Bilbo is to Thorin. Balin knows the depth of Thorin's affection.
And here we have the response and the third time we ever hear Thorin's voice crack and stutter. He chooses to call him "burglar" and forces the words out through his teeth like a curse, like he's fighting something. The statement in and of itself is an obvious lie. He has risked his life for Bilbo multiple times. The trolls, the cliffside, even when Bard threatened them, and he practically glued himself to Bilbo's side.
That brings us to this moment. This is right after the dragon's roar. The look of pure panic at Balin's words. He looks at the door, and the battle between Bilbo and the Arkenstone flips to Bilbo like a light switch. In this moment, Bilbo is more important. He rushes through the door into fiery danger, and the relief in his voice when he sees Bilbo, is clearly audible. Now we all know in the next scene, he holds Bilbo at sword point, and it flickers again. After that, however, Thorin's sickness seems to reconcile Bilbo and the treasure as one thing. Why else would he give him the second most valuable thing in the hoard? Treasure can't steal treasure.
I do have a theory that if Bilbo had relieved the stone, Thorin would not have been upset. It was only when he gave it away that it was deemed betrayal in the highest order.
But I Will Help You Take It Back if I Can
I know everyone gets all excited about The Hug at the end of An Unexpected Journey as the real beginning of their relationship, of Thorin realizing how incredible Bilbo is, but I think it’s actually earlier.
FILI: How on earth did you get past the Goblins?! … GANDALF: Well, what does it matter? He’s back! THORIN: It matters! I want to know - why did you come back?
Thorin’s saying it matters how Bilbo got past the Goblins, but he then changes the question to why. So he doesn’t really care about how; he wants to know why. This isn’t the only time Thorin does that:
THORIN: You have no claim over me!
Thorin, no one said anything about you until you brought it up.
But back to this scene:
Thorin’s demanding, wary, and angry at first:
THORIN: It matters! I want to know.
He’s being all Leader of the Company/King. But when he says “Why did you come back?” it’s like he tries to be demanding, but can’t:
THORIN: Why did you come back?
His voice changes - gets soft, gets personal. He really wants to know the answer to this question: it’s apparently important to him.
Then, of course, Bilbo clearly addresses Thorin, even though, really, his speech is supposedly to the whole company:
BILBO: Look, I know you doubt me, I know you always have. And you’re right, I often think of Bag End. I miss my books. And my armchair. And my garden. See, that’s where I belong. That’s home …
Thorin’s obviously listening very carefully because he repeats these same words back to Bilbo as he’s dying. I mean, he’s staring so intently at Bilbo here, sort of drinking him in:
Thorin feels things, so much, all the time, that he just blocks it all out, like through a layer of water. Despite how obsessed he is with getting back to Erebor, I don’t think he’s actually thought about what Erebor is like or thought about details about it at all since Smaug came. It’s too complicated, too painful.
BILBO: … I miss my books. And my armchair. And my garden. See, that’s where I belong. That’s home …
Thorin’s face in that last picture - it’s almost taken aback: either from finally allowing himself to think of Bilbo as a real person with individual dignity or - I think more likely - from hearing about books and armchairs and gardens. What are those things, really? Warmth, comfort, safety. Things people associate with home.
Thorin has been homeless, a refuge, for a long time. He doesn’t think about Erebor specifically. He doesn’t think about the things he misses from home: he can’t; he can’t, it’s suicide. And now he is, probably for the first time in a very long time.
But here’s where I think Thorin really gets it in the gut:
BILBO: … That’s home. And that’s why I came back, cause you don’t have one. A home. It was taken from you. But I will help you take it back if I can.
Bilbo is saying that he’ll give up those things so that Thorin can have them. And he’s saying it like it’s no big deal at all; his face and his voice are totally matter-of-fact:
BILBO: … That’s home. And that’s why I came back, cause you don’t have one …
Thorin looks almost confused, like he’s waiting for the other shoe to drop, like he can’t comprehend something this good and this humble. All the dwarves, they’re behind Thorin - at least in part, and Thorin thinks in whole - because he’s the king (at least in name) and because they, too, want to go home. But Bilbo is doing this for Thorin, because he thinks it’s right, because he thinks Thorin is right.
Bilbo is giving something - something huge: his home, his safety, all the things that Thorin misses - with nothing asked for in return.
And then there’s the real kicker: Bilbo’s done talking, and this is Thorin:
He doesn’t blink; he legit just looks down because he can’t meet Bilbo’s eyes. Really, I find it a fairly blatant - if unconscious - gesture of submission - particularly because Thorin always, always looks everyone in the eye, usually rather aggressively. But he’s like “I have just met the Ultimate Good, I didn’t think something like this could exist and certainly not for me; I don’t deserve this; Bilbo is everything that is good and beautiful.”
Then Wargs and Orcs show up immediately, so there’s no time really for any sort of response from Thorin, but as soon as Thorin actually allowed himself to listen to Bilbo, he was in love.
I can already tell he’s going to drive us all nuts x10000
