And it’s okay to focus on carving out a little bit of good in your own little bubble of the universe. The world has felt all year long like it is ending. It’s really felt that way. But I hope you’ve managed to carve out a little bit of good.
Playing Among Us with your friends. Learning to bake bread and laughing off the abysmal failures of those first few tries. Jokingly leaving zoom calls after a friend makes a terrible joke, only to jump back in laughing a moment later. The bike rides and walks and trying new recipes just to mix it up. Recording TikToks and writing fanfiction and making art. Whatever you’ve been able to do to carve out a little bit of joy this year, know and trust that more will come.
The world may be on fire, but you cannot help put it out if you don’t stop to drink some water from time to time.

YEAH I KNOW I'VE ALWAYS THOUGHT OF IKEVAMP MC STAYING IN THE 19TH CENTURY WAS WACK LIKE,,, cybird likes to lean more towards like tropes that make you swoon right? who'd chose "i love him so much i'll stay with him and abandon my old life for him heart" over "he waited for you. after all these years, facing harsh times (ww1 and 2), he waited for you. you were one of the things he always looked forward to, every time he was struggling. you were the light he can see in the dark, no matter how 1/?
honestly i couldn’t have put it better myself 😤👏🏻 the world wars were something a couple others brought up in the notes of the original post too. chances are she’s gonna be alive for the first and even the second world war, and idk about her but i’m not risking myself for love especially since france was a major player in BOTH wars. and the whole thing about how her man had to live through not one but TWO wars within like two to three decades is even more heartwrenching when you consider for MC, practically no time would’ve passed between her walking out through the door and her reuniting with her man, depending on how long it takes for them to find each other. there will always be this gap between them, which could also be fodder for potential conflict (eg. she doesn’t get why he’s being so clingy and protective until she remembers that he had to live through both world wars in order to reunite with her).
the job thing makes me sad too bc from the sounds of it, MC had quite the illustrious career as a travel agent & writer. i think it’s only in napoleon’s dramatic route that she gets to do her writing stuff; IIRC comte had gotten a deal for her with a local newspaper or publishing firm or something?? whatever it was, she could spend her days writing and making dough off it. but in most other routes she essentially throws it all away to stay with her man and become a housewife. no dissing housewives or anything bc domestic work is labour, especially in a MASSIVE mansion like comte’s, but if you consider how hard MC must’ve worked in her previous life to get to where she was, only for her to throw it all away for a man she knew for a month... yeah. i mean it’s her choice and all that, but i personally don’t think any man or any love is worth throwing away years of education and hard work for. at least ikesen’s MC could still do her dream job of making clothes, on top of helping out at whichever castle she’s staying at, but ikevamp MC doesn’t even get that much 😭
so what else can ikevamp MC do besides for cooking and cleaning? she could write. maybe fiction isn’t her thing, but she could write in the local paper. she could do an advice column—people could send her letters about their woes and she could give them advice. she can be quite wise and astute, and combined with her natural empathy i think she would be great at this. like she lowkey already plays therapist to the suitors so why not do it for the rest of paris too, right?
also, writer MC would be such a cute combination with the writer trio: arthur, dazai, shakespeare. imagine her sitting with her boyfriend of choice, both of them quietly writing away and occasionally breaking the silence to bounce ideas off each other or ask for a synonym (god knows a thesaurus is a writer’s best friend regardless of what you write).
heck even if she’s not dating one of the writer trio it could still be super cute.

theo... well on days off, she can do her writing thing and then theo gets (just a little!!) jealous of her work and so once it looks like she’s at a good stopping point, he takes her out to the city to eat some sweets.

and although he’s not strictly a writer, sebas and MC could write together in whatever down time they have. MC peers over his hand like “oh napoleon took 20 minutes to get out of bed this morning? that’s gotta be a new record.” and similarly sebas looks at the article she’s writing and remarks, “that lady is still not over her lover leaving her? poor girl.”
anyway i went on a bit of a tangent but there’s so much wasted potential with MC: both with her choosing to return to her time & reuniting with her man, and her choosing to stay but being able to do her old job in some capacity like ikesen MC.
The IkeVamp MC has an appalling lack of historical knowledge for my taste. Yes, Sebastian is a wealth of information about the time period and the people who live in the mansion but like come on really MC??? you will not have remembered a single thing from any basic 20th century history course ever??
At the turn of the century, the Industrial Revolution is in full swing, the Women’s Suffrage Movement is gaining massive traction globally, the Spanish Flu is getting set to race through Europe in a few years, we’ve got all these important pieces being moved into places and she does nothing with the information from the future???
Ok rant over but I will still be so salty about this lolol I would probably be hunting down so many designers from the Art Nouveau period and just keeling over if I saw a original new Alphonse Mucha illustration
