As much as I love fics where dazai drives like a madman and everyone else in the car ends up with heart problems, I like to think that chuuya is probably unaffected by it. In fact, I think he loves it when dazai drives.

Imagine the pm and ada on a joint mission and it somehow ends in skk and sskk in a car together with dazai driving.

sskk are in the backseat and while Atsushi looks visibly mortified and scared for his life, Akutagawa is more subtle about it. He looks almost normal. Until you really pay attention and notice the clenched knuckles resting on his thighs and his eyes twitching.

Their mentors are completely unaware of their state. Dazai has a stupid grin on his face as he drives, determined to break every traffic law ever and Chuuya has his head out of the window, looking very much like a kid whose parents agreed to get mcdonalds.

"Take the next right!" The mafioso yells and Dazai swerves hard, missing the fire hydrant by an inch and Atsushi swears, swears, his heart stopped for 5 seconds. Chuuya hollers in excitement.

Akutagawa considers breaking the door and jumping out using rashoumon.

when they were both in the mafia, dazai and chuuya would """train together""" (dazai would do absolutely nothing (he just wanted to watch chuuya work out))

in executive meetings, they'd both get bored easily and chuuya would get restless so dazai would let him doodle on his arm under the bandages (they would bicker so much during it and got in trouble a lot (dazai's pissed mori ruined their bonding moment))

they also continue to do this in PM/ADA truce meetings

dazai is WEAK for chuuya calling him osamu. genius brain reduced to mush with 1 word

despite the initial tension between chuuya and kunikida (wariness of a dangerous mafia executive on kunikida's part, mild jealousy and insecurity on chuuya's part) they give each other a chance because of how important the other is to dazai (lowkey best friends and then Literally Dating) and they get along great !!!

unfortunately their favourite past time is bonding over how horrible of a partner dazai is. he regrets ever wanting them to be friends.

So my original plan was to write the Lizzie and Joel fic for the au in which all the marriages are arranged first but now that I have an actual plot concept for the flower husbands era story it’s looking more and more like In the Hall of the Ocean Queen is going to be more like a prequel.

The upside of this is that it means that Joel can casually toss out one-line references and no one gets any explanation for awhile XD

Scott, to Joel, a little sarcastically: “Are all royal Sea Folk weddings this…*gestures at everything around them*”

Joel, very casually: “I don’t know, I didn’t have a wedding exactly. Or I had two, depending on how you look at it. But the situation was different.”

Scott: “…”

Scott: “What”

Joel: “My promotion to official consort was probably closer.”

Scott: “Promotion???!?!?!”

Joel: “Yeah I was technically a war prize at first.”

Scott: …

Everyone in the ADA (except Kunikida) play a game whenever Dazai falls asleep where they have to balance as many things as they can on him until he wakes up. Atsushi started this trend after Kunikida had slammed some paperwork on a sleeping Dazai, who did not budge, and so Atsushi started stacking things on top of him.

Slowly, it became rather popular, and anyone who was in the office at the time of Dazai's nap will join in. Only Kunikida refuses to play because he says it's a waste of time, tho he'll secretly do it when it's just him and Dazai in the office. The weirder position Dazai fell asleep in, the more fun they had. They've stacked items on his head, back, legs, arms, whatever is in a perfect position to hold items at the time.

Dazai is obviously awake the moment they start bc he's an ex mafioso, of course he'd wake up if someone was quite literally stacking objects on top of him, but he pretends to be asleep because he finds it funny, and everyone else is having fun too. The only one who figured out Dazai is actually awake is Ranpo, who will balance particularly heavy objects on him to see how much he is willing to suffer for this silly game and to see if he can get him to crack
