What do you mean you don’t know???
Based on that soulmate au where there’s a patch of your body that is black and lights up as the first touch of your soulmate (inspired and possibly created by @thenovelartist )
“Don’t let girls like Chloe get you down. I’m Alya, what’s your name?” The Auburn haired girl waved her hand, and I could see the smudge of black around her wrist.
“I’m - I’m Marinette…” I said, giving a small wave back and hoping she wouldn’t notic-
“Dude, you’ve met your soulmate already? Who is it, how did you meet?” She said excitededly, grabbing my hand to trace the small blue marks at the tip of my fingers.
“I don’t know if you would count it as meeting them…..” I trailed off as Alya steamrolled on.
“So who are they?” She asked, and I sigh.
“That’s the thing, I-I don’t know.” And I hid my hand in my pocket, shame burning the blue on my fingers.
“What do you mean you don’t know? Surely you would know who you touched to make it light up blue like that?” She asks, the usual confusion on her face.
“Nope. According to my parents, I have had it since I was a baby still in the cots at the hospital.”
“Then your parents must know who it was right?”
“Nope. My mom was still in her hospital bed recuperating and my dad had left me alone with the nurses and the other babies for five minutes. When he came back to see me, it had lit up and there wasn’t a baby with a lit up soulmark in sight. They even called the hospital in an attempt to track down any babies in the room the same time as me, but the hospital didn’t tell us because of confidentiality reasons.”
Alya was quite, absent mindedly stroking the soulmark on her wrist.
“Quiet class, today we will be studying the biology of a cell membrane!” Mrs Mendelier said, and the conversation was forgotten.
Two days later and I walked into class to Chloe having a meltdown over some guy named Adrien.
“What’s going on with Chloe?” I asked as I slid into the seat next to Alya. She grins and shows me her phone, mouth running in rapid fire.
“Apparently he’s a famous model and the son of super huge Gabriel Agreste and he’s supposed to come here to school with us, but his dad said no because of some incident with his mom!” I blinked, sorting through the information before my mind stuck on something.
“Gabriel Agreste as in THE Gabriel Agreste? High end fashion designer??!” I screeched, forgetting my usual silence.
Alya nodded emphatically and then Madame Bustier came in and told us all to be quiet while she started the lesson. A few minutes later a blonde haired boy with green eyes stumbled into class, sending papers flying everywhere.
“Sorry, sorry! Oh - my bad, here you go, sorry about your books.” He said good naturedly as he knocked into things and people alike before casually sitting down next to Nino. Nino gave him a high five and shot us, more likely Alya, a wink.
“ADRIKINS! You came!! Oh I was so worried but I knew we could make it! Come, leave that loser and come sit by me! Sabrina move. Oh Adrikins, come on!” She purred nasally, ignoring Madame Bustier’s attempts to quiet her.
Class settled down and I tried to focus back on the lesson, but my mind was stuck on the attractive blonde haired boy sitting across from us. Before either knew it, the bell for class had rung and Alya had pushed me out of the class towards him.
“Hi, Adrien Agreste, pleased to meet you!” He said and held out his hand for a well manicured hand shake. I blushed, look down at his and and gasped, for there on his fingertips was a brush of blue.
He glanced down at his fingertips, the first hint of nervousness flashing over his face as he shoved his hand down.
“Sorry, I forget it unnerves people sometimes. I’ve had it since I was a baby, Chloe was furious when she found out…” He look apologetic but I was frozen.
“I really am sorry, it is weird but I forgot, it’s not big deal…” He said, awkward at my shocked reaction.
“Wait-wait… You’re saying you don’t know who your soulmate is. And that you’ve had it since you can remember…” I couldn’t understand, how could this attractive supermodel be my soulmate?
“Um yes?” He scratched the back of his neck, a small blush forming. I saw his nervousness and suddenly felt unknown confidence.
“Hello Adrien Agreste, I’m Marinette and I think that I’m your soulmate.” And with that I held out my souldmarked hand.
