i’ve been thinking about this all day. speaking as a person who has been tear gassed to hell and back i wouldn’t fucking wish that sensation on my worst enemy let alone CHILDREN. it’s beyond words. don’t believe people when they tell you it’s for crowd control. it’s not. it’s to make crowds PANIC. it’s to make you fear for your life. it’s to make you feel like you’re dying. it can trigger panic attacks and asthma attacks in young people and heart attacks in the elderly. it’s fucking unconscionable is what it is and every single government who uses it should be shamed for eternity

I’ve been tear gassed/CS gassed, all that stupid shit, somehow I’m still doing just fucking fine. And if it was so wrong, why is it a standard use tool for crowd dispersal by law enforcement and why don’t we see thousands upon thousands dead from it, but instead see people irritated and only in mild discomfort?
The only reason the 1993 Geneva convention ban was placed was because a certain fuckboy muslim dictator named Saddam used ACTUAL nerve agents via gas delivery on CIVILIANS and the conventions are there to limit civilian death and injuries.
CS gas is generally accepted as being non-lethal.

You idiots keep referring to the Geneva Convention as though the context of the situation is even covered by it. If we were to treat them, the caravan migrants, as unlawful combatants in a war. Which they would be classified as due to their violent behavior and unwillingness to do anything peacefully. There is also the criminal element hiding among them. We could summarily execute the more violent offenders while throwing the rest into a prison camp without trial. All under the Geneva Convention.
I have seen what nerve agents do. CS gas lights up your pain receptors and you act as though it’s in the same league as Sarin or VX. Those later two will kill you unless you receive immediate medical treatment. Your exposure to CS obviously did not kill you so what quit your bitching. Try being locked in a room with 90 other recruits with Drill Instructors and CS cooking in front of you. I had two recruits panic right next to me. All this after watching four recruits panic and try to breakout of the gas chamber before I entered the chamber. The Drill Instructors were having a ball.

As for the Geneva Convention your ignorance is only exceeded by your hyperbole. Using any chemical agent on the battlefield may trigger a more extreme response. For example, using using a chemical agent may result in a retaliatory nuclear strike. Under the Geneva Convention using a .50cal BMG on infantry is frowned upon. However, dropping 120mm mortar shell on those same infantry is okay. There is a lot of conflicting issues with the convention.
So really, this has been fun.
I also like how there are so many people in the notes going “well, if you think this is okay, how would you like to be hit by tear gas?”
The obvious answer from the folks they’re yelling at is “I wouldn’t. That’s why it’s a deterrent. That is literally the entire point. If you think people shouldn’t do things which make other people uncomfortable, why are you supporting illegal immigration?”

Ive been tear gased before and peppersprayed. 10/10 would rather be tear gassed before I ever get half a MK3 can of pepper spray covering my face again.
