The most tiring thing about non-casters is that they think mind reading is "cheating". No, Bailey, the evil lord does not think about his plans in clear sentences all the time. Last time I asked him about The Wand of Doom he just remembered "a fun night" he had in the basement with what I can only assume is his partner. I'm not even sure if the wand was actually related to this. Nor do I know where this basement is. But I know I don't want to touch anything in there, including the wand if it's actually there. Then he proceeded to loop the chorus of Funkytown for at least half an hour.

I've heard about "Durge gets abandoned by Bhaal but the Urge stays", but consider another version: the Urge does go.

The memory, however, doesn't.

Just like with trauma, you don't just forget it. The danger is gone, but its ghost stays with you. Your being doesn't crave blood anymore (or does it?), but you keep fighting the urge that no longer whispers. Your mind is finally quiet, but this silence is haunting.
