superman.
“Good because I like to make sure that trust is never misplaced on me.” the older Mutant beamed, almost puffing up with pride at the validation. Since he was a kid, Fernando had always enjoy feeling that people could rely on him and that had been a defining trait of his for as long as he could remember. The fact that it was Joseph who was putting his trust on him made it all simply sweeter in a way “I guess we should find a way to distract you or get you out of your mind for a bit then.” he chirped, winking meaningfully at his companion and letting his voice go a couple of tones lower in a teasing way. He had to steer those thoughts away from the direction they were heading right away; Joseph needed his help and his lowkey infatuation on the younger man would probably be counterproductive to that.. Not to mention, highly unprofessional even if the other was not one of his students.
There was a bit of a pause between him tugging the other towards his larger frame when Fernando allowed himself to consider the possibility that maybe Joseph was not indifferent to him but those blushes and the man’s shy attitude were not reserved to him specifically, as far as he knew. His left hand rested loosely on Joseph`s waist and his right one came to grip his wrist and the air glimmered for a moment around them as the more experienced Mutant exerted his ability to surround the other with his Field of influence and make him hover in front of him. Any minimal contact with the other would have suffice for being able to take him on a flight but Fernando felt a bit mischievous and decided to omit that bit of information, his power coiling around the slighter frame securely as the Telekinetic got used to his presence inside his Field “Do you have a limit for how high or how fast you would like to go?” he inquired as they steadily ascended, a playful expression on his face that was meant to be encouraging for the younger man. Flying was the epitome of freedom and he planned to show Joseph precisely that.
who would have thought that a little validation from him would have fernando beaming like he had won first place in the olympics? he didn’t pretend like it was solely from his commentary ( he probably did that for everyone ) but it was a welcome change from how insignificant he felt the rest of the time. confidence wasn’t the right word for what he was feeling ( nor would it ever be, in his opinion ) but fer’s self-assured pride did help to assuage some of his anxieties. at least the ones around being taken for a joyride. on the other hand, the nerves that went with being around someone well-meaning and attractive had doubled—some things never changed. being at ease seemed to be too much to ask for, but between that and what he was used to, he preferred this kind of anxiety, instead. it almost felt normal. ignoring the fact that fernando was about to take him flying, of course.
he laughed nervously, trying to play off the furious shade of red he was turning. god, did he really have to wear his heart on his sleeve all the time? fernando probably hadn’t meant that to be a flirt, anyway. definitely not. “oh, yeah, well—well, i’m sure once we’re up there that’ll be less of a problem.” or more of a problem, depending on how things went. either way, it was one of those bridges that was better left until they crossed it. besides, how was he supposed to troubleshoot anything when fernando had his arms around him? “...uh,” he started, intelligently as always; “i don’t know. not—don’t go too fast, okay?” it was a safe bet that anything extreme wasn’t the best way to start out, especially not when his mutation had a nasty habit of transforming him into an ancient monstrosity when under too much stress.
