âdonât you get your languages mixed up?â
yeah all the time in fact in my latest Japanese essay I got 0% because I wrote the entire thing in Spanish and my parents are getting increasingly frustrated because I keep talking to them in German rather than British Sign Language
my friend is fluent in english, french, italian, portugese, german, dutch, russian and is learning spanish and latvian, and the other day he went into starbucks in england, ordered a latte in german, corrected himself in dutch and the poor barista looked at him in terror
I wrote the entire WRITTEN EXPRESSION part of my Spanish test in French, read over the whole exam like 3 times and didnât notice
my friend has like 7 or 8 siblings and theyâre all fluent in about 6 or 7 languages, and theyâll all be spitting out sentences and remarks and requests in different languages and their parents get so confused. One of them handed in an AP test that started in german and ended in italian
Goals
Wish I could fuck up this gloriously.
I was curious so I put Drunken Whaler over the new Dishonored 2 trailer
The first method for estimating the intelligence of a ruler is to look at the men he has around him.
NiccolĂČ di Bernardo dei Machiavelli. He has often been called the founder of modern political science. Â He was for many years a senior official in the Florentine Republic, with responsibilities in diplomatic and military affairs. Â He also wrote comedies, carnival songs, and poetry. Â His personal correspondence is renowned in the Italian language. Â He was secretary to the Second Chancery of the Republic of Florence from 1498 to 1512, when the Medici were out of power. Â He wrote his most renowned work The Prince (Il Principe) in 1513, Â a few months after Machiavelliâs arrest, torture, and banishment by the in-coming Medici regime. (via historical-nonfiction)

@statecide
Thatâs awesome.
Nice
âUsing specialized prostheses that he designed, he created prosthetic feet with high toe stiffness that made it possible to stand on small rock edges the width of a coin, and titanium-spiked feet that assisted him in ascending steep ice walls. He used these prostheses to alter his height to avoid awkward body positions and to grab hand and foot holds previously out of reach. His height could range from five to eight feet.â

You guys know who else could do that?
The future is here.
things my impossibly young looking Roman history lecturer has said
âlisten to your seminar tutors over the booklet, but only for seminars - in lectures i am king. unless you have me as a seminar tutor as well, in which case i am your king and god.â
âhas anybody played Rome: Total War? no?â
âCataline tried to burn the city and everyone he hated but he failed because, in short, nobody liked him.â
âthe mediterranean diet didnât include tomatoes in the ancient world. i know. oh my god. i know.â
âso of course when Hannibal turns up, the senate goes âsod it, lets kick his arseâ.â
âone manâs optimates is another manâs silver-spoon bearing prick.â
âwe donât have much information about the 70s BC, largely because Plutarch doesnât care.â
âiâm not saying Rome: Total War is entirely accurate, but its battle campaigns are surprisingly historically informed.â
[hand drawing a map in chalk because the projector is broken]Â âiâll give it a go, this is why i hate technology, and oh. well. thatâs not italy.â
âevery army needs bakers and prostitutes, this is just a fact of life.â
âSulla. Heâs a bit of a badass, but also a bit of a prick.âÂ
âyes, that is a slide from Spartacus. The film, not the series, which is more accurate and less like soft porn.â
âthe Romans liked Campania because its very fertile. they didnât know this was because of its proximity to a volcano - poor buggers found THAT out later.â
âCrassus gets given command of Syria and high fives everyone in the senate.â
âCatullus was very pithy, very hellenistic in style. unlike the Iliad, which is 24 books of tedium.â
âAn Afternoon at Carrhae: the Romans being shot at repeatedly by Parthian cavalry because if thereâs one thing the Romans arenât good at, itâs having a cavalry.â
âItâs good to have fast legs in war. Caesar moves very fast, not unlike Napoleon. The Usain Bolt of ancient warfare. Iâm not sure why I said that, itâs an atrocious analogy.â
âAthens is the Edinburgh of the ancient world; it has nothing to offer but education and pretty buildings.â
âShout out to those of you who spent your teenage years playing Rome: Total War.Which is what I did.âÂ
âThe senate go into a panic and they decide to flee Rome at dawn, but some idiot forgets the treasury. I know. Ridiculous.â
âAgain: donât use elephants during warfare. Theyâre not as cool as they look. And given theyâre now endangered, itâd just be mean.âÂ
âI had to use this meme, Iâm sorry. Youâre all aware of the one does not simply walk into mordor meme right? Iâm sorry, weâll move on.â
âI put this photo in for dramatic effect but I realise that itâs just a field. I donât know why people bother going to see battle sites, theyâre all really boring. I saw bones once, they were quite interesting. But most battle sites: boring.â
âCaesar doesnât tell Rome anything while heâs away in Egypt for a year, so they have no idea Pompeyâs dead. All they know is that Antony is being a pain in the ass, which is, in all honesty, not unusual for Antony.â
âCaesar is very good at one liners. You always draft a pithy one liner before a battle so you have something to say when you win. You donât want to win and then just be like âwhoo, thank god for that.ââ
I like his styleâŠ

No shut up, youâre crying
21 Signs You Might Actually Be An Ambivert.
If you donât feel like an extrovert or an introvert, this might be why.
1. When youâre out in the world, youâre probably not going to be starting conversations with strangers.
2. Generally, youâre always happy to meet new people, but youâll probably be uncomfortable if you have to do it without any of your existing friends with you.
3. When a topic of interest comes up in conversation, youâre more than happy to talk in great detail about it.
4. But as soon as thatâs done, youâll happily sit listening to the conversation without saying another word.

Playlists for Writing
Listen on Spotify or Spotify Web Player
Music to write or study to! These playlists are works in progress and are continuously growing. Titled after like-themed action movie and game music, the playlists each have their own personality, and encourage different moods or activity levels. Most music is from soundtracks. The calmest playlists, Temple Ruins and Party Camp, are useful for getting into the writing or studying mood. This music is less distracting. Once your pace is set, or if you want to get in the mood to write an action scene, Boss Fight is the playlist for you. Tavern Nights, of course, is a fun-filled playlist, but it can be more distracting, and Field Music is right in the middle.
All playlists are available to follow on Spotify, and can also be accessed via the web player with a free Spotify account. Just click on the [listen] for the link. Please do not hesitate to suggest music/changes to me, either here or on Spotify.

The Tribunal, also called ALMSIVI were the three living gods of Morrowind: Almalexia, Sotha Sil, and Vivec. Each had many titles and encompassed different things, and each had an anticipation of a Daedric Prince. Almalexiaâs was Boethiah, Vivecâs was Mephala, and Sotha Silâs was Azura. They were also represented by their Daedric initials of Ayem, Seht, and Vehk.Â

I honestly donât like the pre-sequel. I mean, yeah, itâs borderlands, loads of fun. But the writing irked me. I didnât find it funny, at all, like the other games. Barely even held my attention most of the time. Not to mention it totally stepped on its own feet by fucking up already established plot points. Angel tells you that the entire plan of borderlands 1 was orchestrated by jack. Where was any of that in the game? It made jack seem like some guy who saw the opportunity after the vault opened, rather than some mastermind who planned everything, like heâs supposed to be. It didnt make any sense.
*slams hands* man im curious. People following me who havenât read or watched FMA (bless your patient hearts) whatâs the most confusing thing about the series youâve seen me say/reblog/tag?
