Reblog if you've made at least one friend because of a fandom.
Excellent friends. Friends that saved my life. Fandom rocks!
Good Omens | 1.05 The Doomsday Option

Holy shit??? YOU FOLLOWED ME BACK?
Uh, hi! I love good omens too, especially season 1, although I haven't really engaged in the fandom other than reading some fics. Greatly enjoying Don't Fall Away From Me, it's in a tab that I circle back to because I have a Scattered Mind. I actually found you when you were answering an ask about mental health (I was scrolling through tags Feeling Bad and looking for something to make me Feel Better). I'm sorry for the absolutely Shit times you've fallen upon, but I'm really happy the community is showering you with support. I read the comments, and there's such a spirit of Giving Back that gives me hope in the world. I hope you reach your goal soon, and you'll have a roof over your head for you and your kids that nobody can take away.
Also, I see you answering a lot of heavy asks, and please take care of yourself and set boundaries too! As a depressed nineteen-year-old (although it's gotten much better lately), I understand the anons seeking comfort in you, someone who's older and Keeps Going even though shit gets hard. But as someone said, it takes a lot out of you to witness so much grief (especially considering you're dealing with So Much yourself), so never feel guilty about not answering asks. The stuff I do see you answer, you answer with a lot of thoughtfulness, compassion, and gentleness. You're a full-grown adult so you likely know how to handle your own boundaries sksksksk, but you're taking care of your kids, figuring out some really stress-inducing irl stuff like fundraising to buy a new home, as well as pre-existing health conditions. I didn't even know you existed until yesterday, but a lot of your reassuring stuff was things I really needed to hear. But I'd rather you prioritize yourself.
Anyways, I hope things get easier for you. I love the first chapter of Don't Fall Away from Me, where Crowley is just slowly driving by the bookshop. It's so sad and funny.
Hi!! Welcome to the family! I'm glad you found me, too! The fandom is going through a rough time collectively and we're absolutely stronger and happier connected. I'm glad some of what I said helped, that actually is so reassuring because you never know if what you say is of any use whatsoever (and I do worry about it!) I promise to try and take a little better care of myself. Another thing I am working on (the mom instinct is to save the kids first, worry about me later) and I will get better at, I hope. The fact you referred to DFAFM as funny suggests you might not have got too far yet... she's gonna need some hot chocolate and blankets, folks!! (I kid. Kinda.) Don't read THAT fic unless you are in a good place, okay? It's my magnum opus but it's... a rollercoaster, emotionally, and you need to take care of yourself! Soooo happy to have you as my new moot. Have a great evening!
it was a nice day
(thank you to @chibigemgem for commissioning this piece!)
Side Note To Fan Fic Authors
Hereâs the thing.
I read a lot of scripts. Â A lot. Â From professionals to aspiring writers to complete newbies. Â Features and pilots. Â Specs and treatments.
And 8 times out of 10 the fan fic that Iâve read over the last, oh, 15 years is leagues better than this stuff. Â Itâs more inspired. Â Itâs more compelling. Â Itâs genre bending and creative and heartfelt. Â Itâs well-paced and intense and funny and sexy and meaningful. Â Itâs smart and thoughtful and good. Â Itâs novel-quality. Â Better than, sometimes.
Rare is the script I donât want to put down, but how often have we stayed up until 3am to get to the last chapter of a 100k fic? And itâs not even a fan fic authorâs day job.  This is what they do on the side.  In their spare time.  For free.
So my point is, fan fic authors, youâre good.  Youâre good writers and great storytellers.  I know it doesnât always feel like it, especially if youâre one of the authors whoâs not a BNF and doesnât get the notes/hits that a few do.  And  because some people still view fic as ânot real writing.â You guys know the shit that gets made into movies.  Youâre better than that.  So be better than that.  If writing is what you think want to do, then just know youâre already doing it.  Youâve already started.
And youâre more talented than you might think.
This times this forever this.
Do. Not. Self. Reject.
Write your best work, write your best, and then send that to people who publish that sort of work. Keep doing that and you can get there. You can you can you can.
I was thinking that one of the most beautiful aspects of Aziraphale and Crowley is that at certain moments you want to shower them both with hugs and cuddles, and at others you want to shout at both of them "you're a fucking hero, kick their ass"
Aziraphale: What was that? Crowley: My shirt fell. Aziraphale: It sounded a lot heavier than that. Crowley: I was in it.
They like holding hands Only been able to draw a few lines since the whole thing, finally found the need again and decided to quickly whip up something wholesome before I go back to the piece I was working on before. Hope ya'll are able to rest this weekend, and that you're able to breathe a little again
Honestly, the hope of Crowley and Aziraphale being together and happy in season 3 really fuels me. As a community, we have been queerbaited so many times. Sherlock, Merlin, Supernatural, Hannibal to an extent, so many other shows have let us down. And to see a queer kiss onscreen at the end of go2 was absolutely amazing. To be clear, I don't think season 1 was queerbait or that Crowley and Aziraphale needed to kiss to prove that they love each other. It was just so refreshing to see that on my screen and know that I'm not just making up subtext that isn't there. Even shows that do have good queer rep often end sadly or get cancelled before they can properly explore that aspect of the character(s). Look at the magnus archives, for example. So many brilliant queer people, dead by the end. Of course, the characters and their deaths are treated with utmost respect, but it's still upsetting to listen to. And to be honest, I'm really looking forward to the south downs cottage at the end of go3. I think we all need a win, in the form of some long-awaited queer joy. đđđ
