Jack is digging through one of his old carry-on bags to see if he left an extra phone charger in it. He doesn’t use the black duffle much anymore since he has Falconers issued gear that helps the support people keep their stuff organized. He’s digging through the front flap pocket, too flat to fit anything but maybe a charger or a pen and pad. He feels something papery like a receipt and pulls it out to throw it away but instead it’s a small light yellow square folded into fourths. He recognizes it immediately as a post it note. A few cookie crumbs still reside in the folds and they fall out when jack unfolds it. It reads “Dear Jack! Hope you have a ‘swawesome summer…" There is a little steaming pie doodled in the corner and in neat letters “ERB” signed on the bottom right. Jack smiles to himself and heads to the kitchen. He roots around in the miscellaneous drawer until he successfully finds some clear tape. The adhesive of the note has long since worn off so jack takes a strip and tapes the note above the others on the fridge smoothing it so it lays flat like the others. He takes the moment to look at the other notes hanging there. “I’m so proud of you!!” “Good luck today, sweetheart! <3” “You can do this! ILU” Jack’s smile grows and his heart squeezes. He leaves the kitchen to find his phone and give his boyfriend a call.
