One day, I’d really like to return to my PlainDonutShipping roots…I feel like I have so many fic ideas for them still in my drafts, and I feel like I could write Larry and Saguaro better than I did four years ago. Perhaps soon…I’m in my writing phase these days since it’s easy to do during commutes LOL
there’s a notion I’ve seen people spread that I don’t like when it comes to deltarune human designs ( I don’t think it’s wrong to see the monsters as white bc I sure do for a few of them ). but when people hc characters as black ( say specifically Noelle + berdly ) people jump to “oh! Well Noelle can’t be black, she’s a corny preppy rich girl!” “Berdly can’t be black, he’s and annoying nerd.” What makes you think black people cant act like this 😭
Do you think being rich and living in the suburbs + being nerdy and corny is white exclusive traits 😭 do you think being silly or geeky or dainty and soft are traits black people cant have 😭 like it really shows that people think of certain personalities as “white default” and if a black person acts that way its unrealistic . I think you need to unpack what you think a black person should behave like for you to think this way 😭😭😭😭
The thing is I was so pleasantly surprised that it was such a widely accepted hc to think of tenna as black!!! I was genuinely so happy about that!! ( esp tenna being so layered and complicated and not being that great a person all the time) we get happy seeing people treating black people as actual human beings!!! The bare minimum!!!
But I think it just holds a conversation about the way people push black people / characters in the box all the time. Like we’re not allowed to flawed/imperfect/be annoying/ get upset or angry be short tempered like other characters or they’re seen as “aggressive” “unreasonable” or a racist depiction bc they dare show a human emotion . But if they have no flaws / relatively sweet, geeky and silly, animated or bubbly but people say they “aren’t interesting” or find them “boring. “Too much” “I care about the other characters more”.
I don’t think there should be a justification or “a reason” for characters can be black . They’re just people, but the way talk about this makes it feel like there needs to be a reason. You just don’t see them as human enough to coexist with everyone else.
Especially with blue being introduced in this newest chapter ( THE MOST EXPLICITLY BLACK CODED DELTARUNE CHARACTER BTW ) who is a kind, gentle and feminine gender non conforming black man people have truly just don’t know how to behave.
( denying his blackness in the first place bc of how he acts. “he’s blue, not black”) whitewashing him by straightening his hair ( he literally has locs in his sprite) or finding some excuse to not care about him at all. like we know exactly the type of people you are if this is how you react to the very explictly black coded character in general 😭
The irony of nonblack people specifically calling Black Americans “Amerikkkans” is baffling to me. Hey I need you to look at me. Who do you think is the predominant target and victim to the kkk. Do you know what the kkk even is. Why do you think calling random black people online and comparing them to the racist group of white people who systematically target, abuse, and execute black people (that are still doing this to this day currently), why do you think doing that is acceptable? Do you have a fucking brain. You can (rightfully) criticize the country of America and its government *without* being fucking antiblack to the people who are historically marginalized.
If multiple people tell you your work contains racist stereotypes and your solution is to, in the sequel of said work, turn the characters you were planning on being nonwhite into white people to “avoid steryotypes”, you are a fucking racist and are showing you’re unwilling to learn from your mistakes. Like, Jesus Christ man
It's a lot healthier to go for a daily walk than to sign up for a gym membership you won't be using because you hate that kind of exercise. It's a lot healthier to eat a frozen meal than to skip a meal because you were too tired to cook something healthy. It's a lot healthier to take a quick shower than to procrastinate an elaborate routine for days. Don't aim so high that you won't be hitting anything!
Really pisses me off when someone makes what would be a really good post about misogyny but then drags trans men into it, and wildly misconstrues their experiences to paint then as benefactors and/or perpetrators of said misogyny. And then when people (usually trans men) point out that what they're saying about trans men is not accurate and usually transphobic they start in on the whole "typical man you want to talk about everything except misogyny don't you". Like no, I would love to have a genuine conversation about the way misogyny has shaped out culture and the effects that has, you're the one insisting on shoving your head in the sand and refusing to listen to marginalized people about their experiences.

I wish EAH had leaned more into the worldwide manipulation passed down through every single generation, as opposed to just Grimm.
It makes the Royals side easier to understand when it’s framed through the lense of generational trauma: every woman in your family has gone through this you’re being dramatic, it happened to me when I was your age and I turned out fine, this is a part of our heritage you should be proud.
And also as military propaganda: you’re doing it for your country, you’re keeping us all safe, you’ll come home and be celebrated, don’t worry about the ones who ended up homeless and traumatised you wont end up like them. We promise.
And every single one of them don’t realise the horror of what they’ve signed up for until it’s too late. And it’s easier to accept it as something to be proud of than realise that your entire reality and the worlds history is based on meaningless violence for no reason at all.
