i did read marion zimmer bradley's mists of avalon a couple weeks ago. didn't write a review right away because i don't really know how to comment on something so good. it's so fucking good. it's a retelling of arthurian legends from the perspectives of the women in the stories, and it's immersive and entirely true to the feeling of the legends while being original and a meaningful contribution to the canon. my only real criticism is that there is a lot of back and forth between characters about the pagan religion vs. christianity, which can get very repetitive as the same points are made over and over. other than that, phenomenal.
ugh my request for between two fires came in to the library but i immediately returned it bc i'm incredibly sensitive to horror media + i'm gonna be alone in the apartment for a few days and i know how i get. but i read the first few pages and keep thinking about it, i love the hundred years' war as a setting and the writing was very appealing. i do have octavia butler short stories!n
There are places deep in the earth where the water is crystal clear or it would be, if there were any light. All of the sediment, all of the dust has settled long ago. All of the gasses have escaped. These hidden volumes of water, like houses. Like the space between bridges. The space between you and the sky. Huge empty spaces that are not empty. Frozen glass. The water is still. The water is silent. The water is transparent as the mountain air on a starless, moonless, windless night.
the cause was obviously doomed to fail but the luddites had a point really ifwere being honest
not luddite but i believe in their beliefs ect.
i can't tell if it's a result of time passing & a shift in the culture or if it's because i've been slowly but steadily working my way into higher echelons of restaurant, but the average line cook job interview these days is pretty much just an assessment of whether or not you can be a good hang.
California Newt 🦎🌟 Riso printed with fluorescent pink and sea foam.
Technically California newts have orange bellies and brown skin, I had limited color access for riso printing so I took some creative liberties.
This print will be available at my next event at the Aquarium of the Bay Craft Fair on Sunday June 7th!
mr beast has decoys
my boys and i took out 3 last year… wanted to figure out if they were clones or just different guys who underwent plastic surgery so we tried to get them dna tested but the sequences didn’t match any known living organism
can't believe we got joan in the garden and honestly the whole of as it ever was so it shall be again in 2024. it just feels like the culmination of so much time and dedication and a real fucking artisan approach to the craft. i remember during the height of the lockdown colin meloy did livestreams and demo'ed william fitzwilliam, kinda tinny, over instagram. when the album came out i read basically everything meloy said about the process and then read everything he referenced as being influential to the songwriting. it's such a good fucking album and it's so textually rich. man.
Hunter and prey, markers on paper.

The 4pm bird gets the weird and fucked up spider
got a CD player recently so i can listen to ones i burned (read: my dad helped me burn, i was seven) when i was a kid. this one goes back to back the cure, bran van 3000, and war pigs by cake. i hope i have a kid like me.
Hazy nostalgic flashback montage but instead of a dead wife it’s a defunct kebab shop
port cities are cute
