I'm not sure if I'm going to say this clearly or understandably but I finished watching Heartstopper season 2 and it makes me so warm and fuzzy. It also makes me realise that other media have somehow rotten my brain a bit....
I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of shows about teenagers (for teenagers sometimes) are not played by people that are teenagers. A lot of them are in their 20's (some even in their 30's) so when they have sex it doesn't feel weird or wrong.
So seeing something like Heartstopper, where the most sexy thing the main couple does is leave a hicky, is sort of baffling to me.
Like, I don't know. I think it's sweet, them just kissing and the occasional hickey but all the while I was thinking 'is that is? is that enough for them?'
Like, how weird is that?! We are talking about teenagers here! Isn't it more logical that they only hold hands, hug, kiss and leave a hickey than that they do more than that?!
Yeah, I don't know if I'm making sense but I just know that seeing Heartstopper makes me happy and warm and convinces me that the love Charlie and Nick have for each other is more real. Probably because it all starts so slow and innocent.
Maybe someone with more brains can explain it better.
