Been a little over a week since I did that vague post, and I finally think I’ve found the words for what’s been on my mind.
This is kind of a difficult post to write, because I’ve never done anything like this before - Black Clover is the first fandom I’ve really interacted with people like this, made friends like this, and to be so negative somewhere where I loved to be enthusiastic feels so foreign. But what’s been irking me is just not something I’m managing to ignore anymore, and since it was causing me so much discomfort before my break, I’m gonna speak about it - I can’t bring myself to return if I don’t (and to be frank after this, I don’t know if anyone will want me to return at all).
Thank you to everyone who was concerned about me, regardless of who this may end up affecting. I’m still considerably new here, so I hate to have to potentially push everyone away so soon - which is why I considered quitting. If I’m right and as many people as I think are going to bash me for my opinion, then I won’t be wanted here, and thus there’s no point in me continuing my account to share my love of these characters, others’, and my own with people.
I do not wish for this to cause a divide amongst people, as much as I know it likely will - this isn’t supposed to be an attack either, I wish to have a more civilised conversation about this rather than just harassment on both sides. 👇
To get to the point, when I woke up one morning about a week or two ago to see everyone reach for an excuse to defend incest from that one lore idea post - it made me see a lot of my friends on here very differently. Usually this would be something I brush over, because I can just soft block the person or the tag - but it was like damn near a good chunk of my moots, and it was just so baffling to me?
Incest can be fine if it’s tackled with care and it’s sure to be presented as a BAD thing - and if you agree with this view then this isn’t at all about you (but please do clarify to me that it IS what you think) - but watching people go “its technically legal!” instead of “its fine to include bad stuff like that so long as you admit its bad” was… for lack of a better word, nauseating.
I don’t know if it was just the way people phrased it, because the harassment about it definitely wasn’t okay. As much as I agreed with the point on incest, the anons were very harsh and people don’t deserve to have their religion or queerness attacked from all sides. And I understand a lot of people were rightfully just trying to support a friend.
But do some of you actually think incest is okay? As I said, I don’t mean that you think it’s okay when the incest is being represented as a bad thing, I mean like ACTUALLY think it’s totally fine if it’s technically legal? Because I don’t know how comfortable I’d feel interacting with some of you anymore if you think that.
Let me make my case first so I’m not repeating myself in any responses :
You shouldn’t date someone you could theoretically meet at a family gathering, to begin with. Fuegoleon is distantly blood related to the Silvas yes, and while it’s probably so distant to not be an issue regarding gene pools (ignoring that someone like Nero in the narrative would have been around the whole time and be conscious that the Vermillions and Silas are blood related since she was there before the houses split) - incest is often a social issue anyway.
Any of Aciers children would have been raised to view the Vermillions as family and fellow royals, especially considering that branch where Mimosa and Kirsch come in and make everyone more closely tied, and I don’t know about you - but even if I’m not blood related to everyone in my family, knowing we are related is enough to make me not want to even consider dating them.
Families also inherently have pre-determined power dynamics, and in the case of Royals it is INCREDIBLY relevant. It does not matter if they’re ever the same age, because there will be a hierarchy of who’s ’next in line’ for the throne and the family. Yes since the Kira’s have more influence lore wise, the Silvas and Vermillions will be lower down, superiority complexes are present in each of the families and it will still be something either one of them could hold over another’s head. Incest is weird and cannot be consented to when you’re aware of this.
Yes young children can get crushes on people who are older and such, and sometimes it ends up being relatives - I’m not saying that cant be represented, but please do me a comfort and just make sure to acknowledge it’s wrong, rather than defend why it shouldn’t be frowned upon when it SHOULD.
Incest is a massive problem in the Black Clover fandom as it is. I’ve had people I needed to distance myself from already over much worse ships (like Asta and Yuno, and god forbid Lucius and Julius - which mind you I still see people here interact with people who ship that. Granted you may not all know, but if you do and it’s something you personally look over then I do feel VERY iffy).
I’m not a believer in ‘it’s just fiction’ - because where is the line drawn? Someone who has been affected by any kind of ‘controversial’ issue in real life would be triggered by seeing it, incest or otherwise, so it can DEFINITELY affect reality. I don’t care if you wouldn’t do it in real life and its just something you like to explore online - this hurts real people and if you portray it as something good or quirky rather than bad, then vulnerable people could see it and do it themselves.
Call me woke and any name under the sun if you like, say I’m being too sensitive and that it isn’t hurting me or anyone - but make sure you block me afterwards.
Tumblr is a place for weirdos yes, but it was to my understanding it was for quirky weirdos who like making what might be seen as ‘cringe’ content of their ships and original characters + AUs and such, not weirdos who think its okay for people raised as family to kiss each other.
I’m sorry this ended up being very hostile, but I’m just so tired of making friends in this fandom and then later learning that they’re okay with things that make me incredibly uncomfortable.
If you are someone who does think it’s wrong, and you just worded it in a way that make me think you liked it, then do say - I will not be angry and I would LOVE to be incorrect about this. But if you do think it’s okay, and still haven’t changed your mind after what I’ve said (or any further interaction on this post) - please refrain from speaking with me anymore.
I want to reiterate that I do not fw incest, anything adjacent to it, extreme age gaps, pedo shit, or just uncomfortable dynamics in general.
I will judge you harshly for it. I don’t care if you think this place is for weirdos, not everyone here is. I don’t have to support what you like. It’s weird and I will say so.
I’m not saying this to be mean or rude or anything but I am not comfortable with these things as I am a victim to all of it so yes, it does affect me. It’s not some mystical thing that only harms fictional people. Seeing it be downplayed or straight up supported quite literally triggers me.

All of this is a wip but here's Valentinos idol au backstory. TW for addiction/drugs mentioned
Valentino and Vivienne joined the golden dawn idol group at the same time as Langris. people noticed when he suddenly dissappeared from the public eye for awhile.. its leaked to the public that Valentino got into an accident (where he got his scar) But when his medical leave ends Valentino still doesn't return. he was very engrossed in what people where saying online about him.. he convinces himself that he can't go back to the golden dawn bc of his scar.
Valentino keeps pushing back the date of his return. He shuts himself off from family. Valentino gets into some bad circles, (maybe) influenced by Langris. he starts picking up unhealthy coping mechanisms, including virtually whatever substance he could get his hands on.. and he very quickly becomes addicted, which only gives him more reason to distance himself from people.
He officially quits months late from his supposed comeback. Somewhere during that time he gets into contact with nacht. maybe assistant manager snooping idk. but he gets introduced to the black bulls through him, maybe nacht feels bad for him. But Valentino really likes the less strict nature of the black bulls and joins them.
maybe and extra assistant the way some things have multiple managers. Or maybe he's involved more in getting things ready idk abt idol stuff. Or maybe choreography which is what he's best at. Also he can a backup drummer if the situation calls for it like if magnas out. Valentino finds drumming very freeing.

Tbh its hard to still make him meet and work with nacht in his au but that's such an important part of his story I feel like I have to make it work..

Hiiii!!!! Okay so Asta is actually a guitarist 🥹🥹🥹 he doesn’t have any vocal skills and it’s like his equivalent of not having mana in canon!!
Noelle is a vocalist, but she has trouble controlling her pitch ❤️❤️
Magna is a drummer!!! Luck plays the keyboard, Secre plays the bass guitar, and vanessa is also a vocalist!!! songwriter would be mitch, nutritionist would be charmy (she's the nutritionist for ALL the groups in this au), and finral is lowkey their driver (but he has a side gig in playing the acoustic guitar!!!!). yami's also their manager, and nacht is an assistant manager but they lowkey never see him bc he's "off doing paperwork".
zora is the makeup artist for the band... and he also really knows his way around instruments too. He's also a vocalist and guitarist. no one knows what he'll do for the next song until he does it.
outside of the band,
-> Noelle obviously comes from a very rich family
-> vanessa can pole dance (obviously!!!!)
-> zora's lowkey done an ad with calvin klein before?????
-> liebe was another potential candidate for the guitarist position but he comes in later!!! asta got selected in his stead.
