bruce smiled in kind, diana was perfect. always perfect. there’s rarely a time where he thought otherwise and even during those moments he’s realized that he was horribly wrong. so when she’d joked about there possibly not being a next time, he smiled a truly genuine smile. he’d sat down across from her, unzipped the rest of his jacket and leaned into the seat, completely relaxed but as old habits die hard, he’d still maintained good visuals and scope of the room thanks to their seating arrangement.
“what are you in the mood for, di?” it was said in a quiet voice, only meant for her. there was a hint of play but it was mostly a kind tone. he’d opened up his own menu, took a quick glance as his brain had only just awoken. “if you’re looking for finger foods: the smoked salmon bagel sliders are particularly a favorite. there’s the shigoku oysters that are always good. since this is brunch i’d also consider the pigs in a blanket with a pancake twist.”
he’d turned the page, glanced at the contents once and then closed the menu, placing it back onto the table, only maintaining eye contact with her. “believe it or not, they’ve got a decent chicken and waffles item. the belgian waffles can’t be beat except by alfred, of course. and on my protein days, i stick with the classics: steak and egg.” he folded his hands together, a slight smirk appearing. “so the question remains: what are you in the mood for? we can just order everything on the menu and share whatever we don’t eat.”
Diana listened to Bruce speak, a faint smile on her lips. She enjoyed watching the man, both in and out of costume; he had a dynamic presence that had always drawn her in.
“It all sounds appealing, but I think I’ll be having the smoked bagel sliders,” She said, before taking another sip of her water. Perhaps, if she was still in the mood for it, she would order the oysters as an unofficial second course.
