Figured I should update my intro, considering a LOT has changed.

Hello, my dears! I'm Faun, she/they/it. I'm a 19 year old bruja of 7 years and folk Catholic practitioner working on balancing my cultures, my goals and my spirituality. Because of that, I have a very complex and layered practice that you don't need to agree with, just respect.

I'm a former Hellenic Polytheist, which is why you'll see posts about it from years ago here, but I now have a complicated relationship with the faith.

I am also a therian, specifically a grizzly bear and a white tailed dear. The grizzly bear is sort of a spiritual, past life therianthropy, the white tailed deer is unclear as of now.

This blog will serve as my "Book of Whispers", my journal of ancestor work, intersection of queerness and faith, therianthropy and spirituality. If you have any questions for me, please ask!!

I had a dream last night that I ran a community space for witchy folks, specifically Latine and folk magics, traditions and practices. It was in an old chapel turned community center, and I organized a bunch of weekly and monthly events. We had a big communal altar for ancestors, familiars and divine beings (saints, deities, spirits, ect.), covered in photos and gifts and decorations. It was the wee hours of the morning, sun barely up and I was cleaning up from a midnight gathering we'd held the night before.

It was all really cozy and sweet and ugh, I want to have that.

So I started watching Supernatural (embarassing to admit that I JUST started it) and OH MY GODS I'M HOOKED

It's nostalgic to me, as someone who grew up on other monster-of-the-week shows like Buffy: The Vampire Slayer and Scooby Doo. I love the dynamic of the Winchester brothers and their dad and how believable it is.

Also just...SAM??? SAM WINCHESTER??? OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD.

Drumming Song by Florence + the Machine is my personal favorite aong for invocation spells and rituals because it's just so...primal. It makes me think of an ancient priestess dancing in a frenzy to drumming.

Magical correspondences are only valid within a magic belief structure and have little-to-no validity outside of that structure.

There may be reasons why an herb corresponds to xyz in some belief systems, but that doesn't mean that the herb has those abilities within chemistry and/or medicine.

Don't fucking consume an herb based only on it's magical correspondence.

Do not consume an herb without doing the proper research into interactions, contraindications, side-effects, preparation, and dosage.

Don't start taking herbal medicine without consulting your physician first.

"Witch" and "herbalist" are not synonyms.

"Herbalist" and "doctor" are not synonyms.

"Natural" does not mean "harmless".

Mundane > Magical, always, no exceptions.
