i'm not the first person to talk about this but it always intrigues me how these kinds of lines we see when bruce talks about robin jason:

feels negative and like bruce is berating those traits of his (not saying that's the case in this comic though), but when he has the same thoughts about the other boys, it reads as admiration for them.

jason's "recklessness" is framed as just that and dick/tim's is framed as heroic. bruce's is framed as heroic. but it's like jason is too stupid to be heroic when he's reckless and writers definitely try to make that canon/have in the past.

or when he is being both reckless and heroic, the other characters still have to kinda make fun of him a little for it. he's easy to poke fun at and by doing so, they (the writers and through them, the characters) can minimize his admirable actions to maintain his inferior-to-the-better-bats brute character. another thing they do is put responsibility on someone else for jason's good deeds, like saying bruce is the reason jason is heroic (cough, gotham war).

certain traits are ugly on jason but beautiful and admirable on everyone else. jason can't just be good because he's good. there has to be some other reason and the writers will make sure you know it
