Bible stuff / 60s grooves... you dig?
Outsider weirdo-pop from sometime Van Dyke Parks collaborator Brian Woodbury.
R&B psych jams minus seeds and stems.
Baltimore; it’s not all seafood and murder, they do a pretty decent line in psych-prog too.
A thick slice of Aussie latin-funk from Lou Drobnak on Merlin Records. Popsike-buster, super rare.
Smooth soul-funk from the Esoteric Archives.
Can’t make head nor tail of this. Jazz?
Heartbreaking stuff from Jezza.
EPIC jazz-funk from a gentleman named Charles Hull.
“Here comes Success!” Iggy Pop once said... and we were cool with it. Excited even. Perhaps we wouldn’t have been quite so accommodating if old Jim had been referring to this Australian, Scientology-espousing private funk record. In all fairness it’s not terrible but funk, like Scientology, preys on the weak-minded, so be warned.
Music and movement... and open drum sample opportunities galore.
Feels like winter today.
Monster boogie-kraut from 1975. The ebay gavel’s about to drop on a mint copy as I type. Involve thyself.
Half decent psych folk from Devon.
Nice, twangy, warbly, Steeleye-ish folk from Guernsey. It has one of those weird pointillist style cover illustrations that were all the rage among 1970s privately pressed record makers, a positive boon in my eyes. Copies in decent nick go for £120+, so it’s not just a pretty face.
Snotty early 80s AOR with punk-pop-agit vibes. And a ripping guitar solo. Five stars.
Organs and drums. Nothing else needed.
