You describing me as a “writer” first and foremost is a weird attitude. I… am a grown woman with a full time job?! I have had tumblr LONG before I started to write and I posted a fanfiction once a few years ago and enjoyed it so did it regularly. Fanfiction writers are not usually full time writers, we do this because we enjoy writing and sharing our fics with people/geeking out about them. I have been so swamped with work, my personal life, and chronic illness recently that I’m lucky if I have the time and energy to write more than a few sentences a week. I write for fun and I can only have fun whilst writing when I feel well and in the mood to write.
And as I said, it’s not about being asked. It’s about how I’m asked. Because, again, being a fanfiction writer isn’t a job. It’s a hobby. I’m not a professional writer, I’m a fan of tv shows with a tumblr account. And I like to spend time on my fics and only post what I’m proud of.
