The Aged P and I both thought Travis looked ridiculous in that furry coat and also wondered what the point of being a traitor is especially when we find out what these guys go through like you're a member of a race being used for slave labour and you're...going to betray the person trying to save you from from being used as slave labour??? The fuck??? It just makes no sense and also why do these people never work out that they're never gonna get rewarded for it because why would you? Once you've handed over the information you're expendable and lo and behold that's exactly what happens.
Meanwhile Avon delivers another hilarious line up on the ship.
Blake: Does it support any intelligent life?:
Avon: Does the Liberator?
Blake: *exchanges an exasperated look with Jenna*
Everyone's so used to him though, like I loved the moment last episode where they all just booked it the moment Vila and Avon started arguing (not even being subtle about it either, just noping straight out of there) and here there's just no response at all...which is probably what would happen and is actually the best way to deal with it, you can't spend all your time in snark-to-snark combat, you've got things to be doing.
(Avon and Cally's reactions to Vila taking his time getting dressed is hilarious, Cally's bored, Avon's tilting his head in bemusement and they're just so unimpressed it's hilarious and they just beam him down the instant he's done. Love them.)
(Also noticed Avon was typing left-handed earlier like first Jenna and now him why do I not pick up on this before?? Cos this is like the fifth or sixth time it's happened, I will not notice this aspect about a character until like my third or fourth watch of something)
But of course the most interesting person in this episode is Avalon herself, and I do wonder if she's at least partially inspired by Leia, like the spiel she gives Travis was essentially this show's equivalent of 'the more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers', she's helped out a whole bunch of resistance movements and yet we never see her again. Like she doesn't get to do much in this episode (like even Leia got to take charge of her own rescue) and despite her being a really compelling character there's just nothing done with her, I don't know if she appears in any of the audios but that's not really the point, she deserved to be in the show.
But it's mostly a good one, gotta love the tension between Travis and Servalan, always, she is so terrifying and looking as fabulous as always while she's doing this and Travis's plan is perfectly evil like using a bioweapon to get the Liberator is ingenious - though he does make a point in that he could've dealt with Blake already if the Federation weren't insisting on having it for themselves like again, half of their problems are of their own making, of course it's a reason to keep the Liberator around in-universe but it is kinda funny.
And nearly works but then Blake's suspicious of their 'escape' -something that apparently didn't occur to Travis, unless he figured that by the time he worked that out it'd be too late (seeing Avon handle a weapon is always cool, btw, he clearly knows what he's doing) - except then everyone's suspicious of the wrong person just because 'well, that's definitely Avalon' despite the fact they all know??? The Federation can brainwash people???? Like you cannot discount her simple because she's been recognised.
Aged P once again compares Travis to Captain Ahab as his plan falls apart and he becomes ever more determined to destroy Blake and we all know how that ends, but does have a couple questions regarding this one like 1) why did Chevran not voice his suspicions and 2) how come Zen didn't recognise there was an android on board, because surely that would've given off a different reading to a human? These are two good questions but honestly I don't know, especially not for the second one.
Unless it's Zen's programming again like that does seem to cause issues.
