things i really appreciate about the tf2 comics:
everybody always thought the heavy was just another big dumb fat muscle goon type because Cliche Expectations, but he’s actually smart, patient, good at tactics and being efficient at his job; he is very Solid about pretty much everything
heavy is very protective of his mother and little sisters, but listens to them and respects their capabilities and decisions, even if he doesn’t fully agree with some of them
sniper is adopted, but sees how shitty both his birth parents are and continues to love his adoptive parents and think of them as his real ones
the writers made a point of adding a ton of women to the canon, of all ages and sizes and talents, and all of them very deadly, do not fuck with any of these women, at least two of them wrestle large animals for fun and could Destroy you
seriously tho don’t fuck with the administrator, she’s the secret Top Boss of the World basically, an (extremely) old lady to be reckoned with
also Sadistic Scarred Pyro Granny
ms. pauling is young and cute but also very determined and smart and deadly in her own way and also Totally Gay
the medic loves animals and actually seems to really love and appreciate the art of healing and sanctity of life in his own way, even if he’s got some nutty mad scientist methods of going about it
i will never stop absolutely loving the fact that medic turned out to be such a fun, cheerful and incredibly interesting character once meet the medic and the comics started coming out because holy shit were the fandom headcanon years of him being a sadistic literal nazi and slash or the no fun grumbly mother hen very boring and annoying as shit
soldier and zhanna’s relationship is weirdly cute and sweet because they got an addams family style “we’re real fucked up but also we got a real healthy relationship” romance going by the looks of it, soldier is in awe of and respects this large and strong woman into the same things as him who can kill with her bare damn hands
unless there’s some last minute asspull shocking twist, pyro will remain a forever mystery with no big gender or race reveal or anything, continue to headcanon whatever the shit you like under that gasmask it’s canon
for all the zany humor there’s actually a whole lot of actual real good character development and thoughtful drama going on, whether it’s sniper and his background or spy’s various issues and scout conflict or heavy’s concerns or ms. pauling’s quest, it gets real Deep with these oddball mercs sometimes and i love it
all of the above aside, the fact that the writers still somehow manage to come up with things that are Really Fucking Weird And Ridiculous And What The Fuck despite the ridiculousness of the now years old fandom itself, if you manage to outweird a fandom that’s a real accomplishment
